Game HDR setting disappeared after TV update (2024 S90D, Tizen 9.0/One UI)

Hi, I’ve recently updated my 2024 65 inch Samsung S90D TV to Tizen 9.0/One UI firmware number 1206. Before the update, there was a setting in game picture expert below HDR10+ gaming called ‘Game HDR’, aka HGIG setting in other TV manufacturers, that I used to have set to basic. With the new update, it has completely vanished from the game settings. I can play games in HDR however I believe that HGIG is not active. Is there any way to turn HGIG/game HDR on in this new update?

Same here, and Samsung Expert Support was not helpful at all, if anyone knows how to fix this would be great

Hi there, same here with my QN90D. I assume it's a bug on the newest firmware 2106. Need a response from Samsung asap about this.

Edit: To prevent any misinformation, it has NOT been integrated into Game HDR mode, It is indeed missing. This is a confirmed firmware bug

HGIG mode missing in latest Tizen update

Hi there, the option to select HGIG mode on my QN90D TV has gone missing. I know I am not the only one experiencing this as I've found some S90D users with the same issue.

If anyone else has lost HGIG mode (found in Advanced Features> Game Mode Settings > Game Picture Expert) please reply below with your Samsung TV model that you have so that they're aware of what sets are being affected

We need to raise awareness to this issue. At the moment it's affecting S90D and QN90D models, might be other models that we're not aware of, nevertheless, it does show that this is either a firmware bug or, and I hope not, intentional.

It's affecting S90D and QN90D at the moment, so it seems to be a firmware issue. I won't doubt that it'll affect the S95D eventually if it does receive the update too.

For the time being, disable WiFi (completely forget the network) and wait for a fix

My S95D is also affected, "Game HDR" (i.e. HGIG) setting has disappeared with firmware update 2106.

My QE43Q7FAAUXXU has also lost the Game Picture Expert setting on the game mode. It used to be found under the More Settings on Game mode but is no longer showing. Now my game console has a milky effect on the screen and doesnt look right. I found an option under Picture expert Settings called HDR tone mapping and setting this to static instead of active did improve the visuals but not the same as Game Picture Expert did.

QE65 S95D here, updated to 2106. HGIG is gone, Colour Booster doesn't work in Game mode for HDR signals and my picture settings for various inputs are modified and messed up.

I'm very unhappy about this.

This same issue is affecting my S95D with the recent firmware update.

Not happy about this at all. I hope Samsung are aware and will put out a fix.

Can you change the colour booster mode under Picture settings advanced settings? I managed to do this but not through the game mode settings. I did it on the actual picture settings while on HDMI 1.

The setting that was activating HGIG called Game HDR is gone after 2106 update, nowhere to be found and even tweaking the settings to imitate that won't give a good end result.

This is a MUST for many game consoles and I hope is a bug in the new update and Samsung is going to reintroduce it soon.

Even though my feeling is that the setting is now in the "Basic" state per default and non-changeable (because Switch 2 calibration works exactly like before with 1301 and having set that option to "Basic"), I agree that it seems to be a bug that this option is missing now. Especially because on the 2025 models where Tizen OS 9 was installed from the beginning (like S95F), it actually IS present. So there is no reason why it should be missing on 2024 models, where it was present before the update as well, but where it is gone now.

Unfortunately this does NOT help...

First of all, we all know that these menu items moved to a different place...

Your 2025 screenshot is from a 2025 model like S95F. There, you actually have both options in the "Game Picture Expert" menu. However, on a 2024 model (I assume no matter which one), after updating to the 2025 SW, this menu only has ONE option, which is "HDR10+ Gaming". The other option "Game HDR" is missing.
