@k8t: If you open the Email app > Tap the 3 lines in the top left > Select the relevant folder > Tap the 3 dots in the top right > Edit > Tap 'All' in the top left to select all the emails in the folder > Tap the dustbin symbol at the bottom of the screen to delete.

thank you! that worked. I am getting hundreds of spam emails today. is there any way in I can automatically delete emails marked as spam?

Emails marked as spam should automatically delete after 30 days by default
