I have the email app on my tablet and phone. It works fine on the phone but stopped updating on the tablet (SM T 500 Android 12) . I restarted it and then uninstalled the app. Now I can't reinstall it. Google play and the galaxy store say my device is incompatible. I have cleared the caches and storage . Why is this happening?

What you have is the fate of all old devices: obsolesce by software.

The thing is, the email app (and all other apps, for that matter), need to target the latest version of Android, as per Google's demands. Developers then have to work additionally to convert the new instructions (API calls) into something that the old Android version can understand. This becomes increasingly difficult and/or costly as time goes.

What you may do is to install an old version of the email app, using an APK file. You can find a good repository on APKMirror, but you'll have to find the correct version that works on your phone. Another possibility is to try another email app and see if it is still compatible with the tablet. If that also fails, you can go into the website for most emails on your browser and use the email from there.
