Predictive Text Not Working

I wonder if anybody can help me please? I have just bought a never used Galaxy Tab A6 (Model SM-T 585) off a friend. I have encountered a very strange problem, in that whatever l do l cannot get predictive text to work at all. I'm used to using an old Galaxy Tab A and never had a problem.

I have tried the method you describe above, but it doesn't work on my device! Can anybody please HELP ME?

Thanks. If you go to Settings > Language and input > Defauly Keyboard, is this showing as the Samsung keyboard?

Still looking for an answer to solve the no predictive text problem on Tab A SM-T585
