Desktops in One UI 8

Is there any way to disable the desktop feature and make apps open in full screen mode as in UI 7? I shouldn't have to tap twice in two different areas in order to open an app in full screen, particularly as I only have one functioning hand.

Hi there 👋

Try this :
Enable developer options on your tablet to do so : settings > about tablet > software information > tap 7 times on build number.
Go to developer settings and under "window options" (almost at the bottom) disable the option "enable freeform activation".
Restart device.

Would this prevent me from opening more than one app on my screen as sometimes I do use a split screen?

Not a problem, and it shouldn't prevent from opening more than 1 app.

Brilliant fix! It was driving me absolutely, hair pulling crazy. Why there isn't an easy option to set this preference I do not know.

Super advice, thanks. My tablet says "can't use this feature while using multi window" and there is nothing activated...drives me crazy , thinking of switching to ipad, absolutely unsupportable feature

Many thanks to lminvti for the solution which works, however I cannot now alter the size of my split screen windows. Each time I touch the border to do so, my screen turns black and then reverts to the lock screen. I don't know if this is a glitch that can be addressed or whether I should just give up.
