Thank you. I am just a bit upset that this has happened as now I fear what is next for my device. The software will sadly become quickly outdated as more updates happen but my sister has the older model of this tablet (not the lite version) and hers still works like nothing has changed so im very unsure on what will happen. Fingers crossed though 🤞🙂

So I just found out that the Samsung S6 Lite 2022 model will no longer be receiving updates. (Despite these models been promised 4 years of updates 😒) so what now? Will my device just die or something? I'm still able to use it but its a bit laggy so will need to uninstall some apps. Someone please help! Also why did they promise 4 years of updates but cap this one at 3? And is there any way to get the update like maybe through paying for it or anything?

I have the S6 Lite (2024), and it's already on Android 15, UI 7.0...

In your case, I don't know if they will continue with the updates. It's a shame that this is happening with your 2022 model 🫤

It looks like the 2024 model will receive Android 16, so I'm waiting for that.

Ah yes. I have heard that the 2024 models will be receiving the update so good luck to you on getting that! I am very upset though that these updates won't continue as we were promised 4 years of them but its alright. I just am wondering what will happen to my device now as I hope it does not break 🙏

It won't die and apps should keep working. But you won't get security updates or new features. So your device will be vulnerable.

As for apps, potentially some apps might stop working in a year or two. But short term, things should keep working. 2-3 years without updates might cause some to break

Hi there

The S6 Tab Lite (2022) launched with Android 12.

13, 14 and 15 take it to 4 OS updates.

You'll continue to get Security Updates quarterly until some point in 2026 I believe after which support is likely to end.

I personally do feel the marketing to be a little "generous" in the descriptions used. To say 4 years of updates could be seen to imply launch with 12, 4 updates 13, 14, 15 and 16 plus one year extra security but that isn't what Samsung do.

I bought this tablet in 2023 under the understanding that Samsung would provide four years of OS upgrades and five years of security updates. This is literally what I was told by the staff at the store. Now, my tablet has become obsolete after less than two years!

Below is Samsung’s official policy announcement from February 10, 2022:
"Eligible Galaxy devices with four generations of One UI and five years of security updates1 include:
[...] Galaxy Tablets: Galaxy Tab S8, S8+, S8 Ultra and upcoming Tab S series devices"
https://news.samsung.com/global/samsung-sets-the-new-standard-with-four-generations-of-os-upgrades-t...

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2022) was released in May 2022, i.e. a few months after this new policy announcement. It would be highly disappointing if Samsung chose not to honor this commitment.

At present, the new Galaxy Tab S10 Lite is being advertised with “up to seven generations of Android OS upgrades.” After the disappointing experience with the Tab S6 Lite (2022), how seriously should I - or any other customer -take that pledge?

I hope Samsung will now demonstrate some goodwill, either by extending software support for the Tab S6 Lite (2022) to align with the policy, or by offering a more generous trade-in credit toward a newer model. This would go a long way in restoring customer trust and confidence in Samsung’s commitments.

Yes exactly! I love Samsungs products but with this its totally unacceptable. My family couldn't afford a higher model of tablet so this is the only one that I was able to have. Samsung have completely gone against their promise though. Although, my sisters S6 2020 model has lasted a solid 5 years and support for that ended in 2023 so she must be doing something right 🤷‍♀️ I just dread the day this one breaks as I use it for my art works and to play games
