S8 v s11

Hey everyone, I've had the base model of the tab s8 since 2022. Back then I paid £499 for it due to trading in an old tablet.

Its been serving me well. But I do like the tab s11. A part of me wants to upgrade and the other part doesn't see the point. I use my tab s8 for streaming entertainment, video calls, reading and maybe some casual gaming and light note taking.

Whats your perspective on this? Think it's a worthwhile upgrade or not? Let me know

To be honest im the same, I have an s8 aswell and I wanna upgrade but I rarely use it enough to justify an upgrade. If the trade in values were abit higher and better offers/deals id maybe consider it, but for now its a no from me.

Yeah the trade in gives you £150 off but its still pricey at £649 compared to what I paid for the tab s8. I think one ui 8 might be the last major OS update for the tab s8..giving it a 3 year major os cycle which would be a shame.

Ill probably upgrade after one ui 8, I dont see much reason to upgrade now

I've got the tab10 Ultra, been reading a lot about the tab11, it's a lovely tab if you haven't been using the 9 or 10 but yet again Samsung has removed the S pen functionality which is a big shame, it still has a pen but it's not as useful as before. They have also changed the keyboard connection and I'm not sure how much the actual Samsung keyboard is, for my S10 Ultra I was lucky to find one from eBay for £150 and not the £399 on the Samsung website, I tried an aftermarket keyboard but really didn't like it at all. I would suggest trying to find a store where they have it on display and having a play around, plus checking up on how much any accessories will cost, but if you're after a good deal, look at the tab 10 which you still get trade in offers which are the same as the 11

Worth is really user dependent and their circumstances. For me, my Tab S8 Ultra was starting to show it's age by reduced touch responses in games and general battery life was abysmal compared to my other devices. The Tab S11 Ultra improved on this front considerably. The screen is also a marked improvement, especially so when viewing high quality HDR content, the brightness and contrast are night and day improvements. I also enjoy having the anti glare screen, much like on my S25 Ultra. If you have a functioning and still healthy Tab S8 and your only uses are for streaming mostly, I'd have to say you could probably forgo this update. The main advantages really are the much improved battery life and better screen clarity and fidelity in good HDR content. You'll also have another 7 years of android updates, something the Tab S8 series have now reached their final year of. In my case, the speakers are also a slight improvement as well over the Tab S8 Ultra.
