Brightness etc was all set to normal levels. This is the screen when the lower half went black and unresponsive. I think its definitely defective.

I've had my new TAB about 4 days and yesterday the screen would not turn on. I tried everything like using the S-Pen to wake it, a soft reset (power and volume key) and swiping/touching everywhere. Nothing worked. I could stilll hear notifications and i could see the TAB as a device on the Find My app on my Samsung mobile. I could even make the TAB ring from my Samusng mobile. The message on my mobile was that the TAB would ring and the screen would turn on. The ringtone was played but the screen still did not turn on and oddly even though the tablet was in my home, the location of the device was showing as unknown. Today I have come home from work and the screen has now come on. At first i could only control the TAB with either the keyboard cover or the S-Pen. I performed a restart of the TAB and now all seems to be working normally. I've ran all the diagnostics and they all passed. Should I exchange the TAB or put it down to a glitch? Can it be trusted?

It could just be a software glitch, I would advise doing a clear cache partition and seeing if the issue happens again; if it does happen again I'd personally exchange the device from your retailer or contact Samsung customer support.

To clear your phone's cache partition:

1. Connect your phone to a PC.
2. Turn off your phone (it won't enter Recovery Mode if it's on).
3. Press and hold the Volume Up and Bixby/Power keys simultaneously.
4. Once the Android Recovery screen appears, release both buttons.
5. Use the Volume Down button to highlight "Wipe cache partition."
6. Press the Power button to select it.
7. Use Volume Down to highlight "Yes," then press Power to confirm.
8. After the cache is cleared, press the Power button again to reboot your device.

Hi Bindex. Thanks for the advice. I was just using my device, and in the last few minutes half of the display on the side without any buttons has gone completely black and unresponsive. The other half only responds to the SPen. I have clicked the power button to turn off the screen, and now the device is behaving exactly as it did yesterday. It will now not switch back on. I definitely think it's a defective tablet.

Had you accidently set screen brightnees to minmum/off ?
I've done that before , could hear everthing but no picture , sorted it by asking -Bixby to increase screen brightness 😊

Shouldn't be happening. As mentioned already, have you set the brightness to minimal? This can appear to be off. Try shining a light onto the screen and see if you're able to make out any details.

If not return the tablet

Hi @BravoLima, sorry to see that you're having this issue with your brand new Tab S10 FE+. As suggested by @johnz237 and @Bindex, this kind of thing is very much not the norm, so it'd be worth seeing if you can exchange your device.

If you purchased it from a third-party retailer then you'll need to contact them directly for this. If you purchased it directly from Samsung, then you can call our Online Shop team on 0333 000 0333, if you are located on the UK, and 0818 717 100, if you live in Ireland. Both teams are open 8am to 8pm Mon-Fri, 9am to 6pm Sat-Sun.

If you reside outside of these regions, you can find your local Samsung Support team via the link below:

Fantastic, I'm glad you've managed to get a replacement sorted. 😀 It's pretty frustrating to have this sort of thing happen with a brand new bit of tech, I know, but the Tab S10 FE+ is an absolute beauty of a tablet, and I'm sure you'll get to experience it in all its glory once your new one arrives!
