Hello.

I brought the a9+ tablet in December. Within a few weeks it became visibly slow, as if the screen is lagging. Even after messing with some setting and many reboots, it still doesn't improve.

I'm rather disappointed with this tablet. I have always brought Samsung phones and this is the first tablet I have from them. The specs seemed decent but really show how 'budget' it is.

Any idea of fixing the lag issue?

Thanks

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing significant performance issues with your Samsung A9+ tablet, especially after such a short time. It's understandable to be disappointed when a new device doesn't live up to expectations, particularly when you've had positive experiences with Samsung products in the past.
While the A9+ is positioned as a budget-friendly tablet, it shouldn't be lagging visibly within a few weeks of purchase under normal usage. The issues you're describing sound more severe than typical "budget device" performance, and it's frustrating that reboots and settings adjustments haven't helped.
Here are some steps and considerations to help you address this:
* Identify the Root Cause (if possible):
* Apps Running in Background: Even if you've rebooted, some apps might be set to auto-start or constantly run in the background, consuming RAM and CPU.
* Low Storage Space: If your tablet's internal storage is nearly full, it can significantly impact performance.
* Specific Apps: Is the lag noticeable when using particular apps, or is it system-wide (e.g., when navigating menus, opening the keyboard)? Some poorly optimized apps can cause slowdowns.
* Software Glitch/Bug: It's possible there's a software bug unique to your device or a recent update that's causing the problem.
* Hardware Defect: While less common, a hardware defect could be contributing to the lag.
* Troubleshooting Steps (beyond what you've likely tried):
* Check Storage: Go to Settings > Device care (or Battery and device care) > Storage. See how much space is available. If it's very low, consider uninstalling unused apps, deleting large files (videos, photos you've backed up), or clearing app caches.
* Clear Cache Partition: This is a deeper cache clear that can sometimes resolve system-wide performance issues without deleting your data.
* Turn off your tablet.
* Press and hold the Volume Up button and the Power button simultaneously until the Samsung logo appears.
* Release both buttons. You should enter the Android Recovery menu.
* Use the Volume Down button to navigate to "Wipe cache partition" and select it with the Power button.
* Confirm the action when prompted.
* Once done, select "Reboot system now."
* Disable Animations (Developer Options): This won't fix underlying issues but can make the UI feel faster.
* Go to Settings > About tablet > Software information.
* Tap "Build number" 7 times to enable Developer options.
* Go back to Settings > Developer options.
* Find "Window animation scale," "Transition animation scale," and "Animator duration scale." Set them all to ".5x" or "Animation off."
* Check for Software Updates: Go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Samsung frequently releases updates that include performance improvements and bug fixes.
* Identify Resource-Hogging Apps: Go to Settings > Device care (or Battery and device care) > Battery > Background usage limits or check individual app usage. Some apps might be consuming excessive resources in the background.
* Factory Reset (Last Resort): If none of the above helps, a factory reset will return your tablet to its out-of-the-box state. THIS WILL DELETE ALL YOUR DATA, so back up everything important (photos, documents, app data) beforehand.
* Go to Settings > General management > Reset > Factory data reset.
* Contact Samsung Support:
Since you purchased it in December, your tablet is well within its warranty period. If troubleshooting doesn't resolve the issue, you should absolutely contact Samsung support.
* Explain the problem clearly, including the steps you've already taken (reboots, settings adjustments, etc.).
* Mention that the performance issues started very soon after purchase.
* They may offer further troubleshooting, an over-the-air fix, or arrange for a repair or replacement.
Don't settle for a brand new device that's performing poorly. Given your positi

I would recommend using Galaxy App Booster from Good Guardians, along with clearing Cache partition. I have classic Tab A9 and it's not the best when it comes to performance, but that's how tablet works out of the box.

I ran App Booster after I configured it and after receiving OneUI 7 and it has been running just fine since.

Give it a shot and please let me know if that helps. I'm eager to help!
