It sounds like you made custom albums in your older device, however these are not physical folders structured on the SD card itself, therefore they are not organised on your SD Card in this way.

Just got a new s10 fe plus. i had all my pictures in folders inside other main folders on a sd card. When i took the sd card out and placed in my new machine the main parent folders are gone, all the pictures are their folders but not in their main folders. its messy and will take a ton of time to re -sort them.

if I put the card back in the original device (s6 lite) they return to their usual order and the folders are all there.

Is there a setting or something i am missing? so the sd card in my new tablet is exactly the same as it was on the s6?

Hi and welcome, is it just your gallery view, then yes, what mobile do you have, one of the advantages of no SD Card and Cloud storage is this is no really an issue.

IIRC my SD Card days, are you telling Samsung gallery the SD card is the master to save media ?

There after, if it is still and issue, the new device will have created its Samsung/Gallery/DCIM folder structure, just put your SD Care into a laptop (for speed) and manually through File Explorer dump everything from the old media folder into the new one, pop it back into the mobile.

Beyond that another reason i gave up on SD cards before Samsung ditched them was SD Card corruption, Sandisk were the worst, i told about 4 SD Cards corrupted, all purchased direct from Sandisk, in the end in paid over the odds and purchased Samsung SDXC cards, they were solid but a major worry having hundreds of GB of media.

My advice invest in a Cloud sub.

the sd card was in my previous device (s6 lite tablet) when i moved the card to my pc for backup it always kept the files.

You think i should move the card to the pc and then organise them and shift them to the device directly? so ditch the sd card? just so i understand.

If space isn't an issue on your new device, then I would definitely recommend doing that. Personally I stopped using SD Cards on my tablets and phones, especially as the performance gap has risen so wide in modern devices.
