I'd say the tech and smart is all there. The issue is brands. Every sensor and smart device you could ever need already exists, they just only work with certain subscriptions and specific brands. So it's greed and companies that reduce the smart in smart home.

I have an amazon air quality sensor too. Doesn't work at all with samsung or Google. So I can't add it to my smart home. I can only view the data on a phone app.

It 100% could talk to samsung, amazon just decided it wasn't allowed to. Cheapest samsung compatible air quality sensor I found was like £50-£100 while needing a separate smart hub.

The amazon one has wifi, has all the things I need for super cheap. It's just useless unless you only have Alexa stuff

Samsung Smartthings offers little air quality insights or UK,EU sensors but does leech off my Hive thermostat to give indoor temperature insights.

On the other hand my Alexa Air quality monitor gives an array of metrics and I even automated it to alert when Air quality is poor.

So earlier this week I sent my Maeco Dehumidifier and Air Purifier for a repair and service, checked Alexa thinking its all gone down and its the best stats ever.

So my question is smart home tech really smart ?

Matter 1 then 2 was supposed to solve it, for most it has helped but Samsung didnt go the whole hog, actually barely the minimum.

Issue is all the accessories that are compatible are mainly South Korean.

I am thinking in a year or if we move house to maybe go all Google, as they have just updated their suite and its better and even more customisation, proper Android open, shame Samsung sit on their hands.

At the moment my Smart home is a hotch potch.

Lights- Hive
Plugs - TP Link, Kasa
Sockets - BG Home
Door, Window, Light Sensors - Hive
Heating - Hive
Cameras- Ring and Eufy
Alarm- Ring
Oven, Fridge - Samsung
Smart assistant - Alexa

Alexa is the only one that actually nearly brings them all together and allows control, but again Samsung integration is poor.
