Court action against Samsung for screens design fault for galaxy book laptop

Hi All,

Here a group to gather all who are interested in pursuing Samsung against the faulty screen design of the galaxy book laptops that lead to an issue of durability of the screen which is prone to physical damage even when used with reasonable care!

I believe many of you are facing a similar problem I have! That is why I came up with an idea to gather more people as possible to start a Group Court action against Samsung for screens design fault for galaxy book laptops.

Please state you interest to go through with it and let our reasons to be heard!

I’m in Laura. MyGalaxyBook 3 screen cracked with no drop, knock or shock…got the usual brush-off from Samsung « it’s material damage, your fault not ours »

That is exactly what I am talking about, I personally start a claim against Currys as the issue came up just as I bought it "galaxy book3 360 13.3 inch laptop" unfortunately seams they are washing their hand like Samsung did with you. Anyhow It makes sense for me and all of you to directly deal with the manufacturer this case Samsung! Let's see who else is up to tag along and see through this issue with a proper investigation. Hi Laura,

Same issue here! Screen cracked on its own overnight after 4 months of ownership. Currys just keep brushing me off and have sent me their final complaint outcome email saying it's accidental damage. Samsung were even more useless and was told I can't believe everything I read on the internet regarding other people with cracked screens! The customer support also said that he had someone calling the previous days with the same issue on the exact same product but their cracks looks different to mine. Unbelievable.

I'd very happily get involved in some kind of group court action. I'm not going to let this lie!

Hi Jonathan, I believe you. I think they are well trained to dismiss this issue.

Of course every crack is different! But the screen been prone to cracking is real and I think that if we complain together will be less easier for them to not acknowledge the issue

Just to give you a bit of hope, I've actually had success in getting a refund. I bought my laptop from Currys so have been trying to get a refund from them as opposed to Samsung directly.

The approach that got a reaction and resolution within 24hrs, was to send an email to The Guardian newspapers consumer champion email -consumer.champions@theguardian.com

My email included links to a number of these forums and the various links within them as well as mentioning the steps I'd already taken to resolve and a little bit of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 too stating a product should be durable and last a decent length of time.

The guardian sent my email over to Currys, where it was sent to their Specialist Complaints Resolution team who called me an offered me a full refund, no questions. Worth a shot yourself, even if it's directed at Samsung and not Currys.

Hi Jonathan, I am happy for you unfortunately with me and many other people did not went this way

Currys simply dismiss my case stating is a physical damage and never replied to my letters

I sent them 2 letter with help from the citizens advice bureau and they never bother to reply me back not even to let me know they have specialist complain centre so from my side I cannot say they help me out!

I wish they did and I wish to everyone to be helped and heard like they did to you.

Unfortunately I cannot share the same story so I would definitely go ahead to open a court case.

I am curious to know what is the difference between my case and yours so I could mention how different we have been treated in similar circumstances.

Hi,

100% the thing that got a reaction was emailing the guardian consumer email address and highlighting my problem. They immediately emailed Currys and I got an phone call within 24hours offering a refund.

Currys clearly don't want any bad press over the matter so were happy to resolve.

Yes this same thing just happened to me 28 days from purchase. sent to Samsung and they won't cover it. Say same thing happened to brand new book4. Sent to Samsung and they won't cover it. Says it is an $800 repair.

Samsung needs to issue a recall. This will continue to happen.

Terrible for their reputation. No one will purchase these products. I certainly will not ever again as this issue stands today. Maybe if they make it right.

There is already a class action on this. I'm on ticket 2 now, with recordings of the reps at Samsung agreeing it is a known defect. It's been returned to me broken after a OTE (one time exception) was promised. After I was billed $800, a new ticket was supposedly tagged correctly but their repair dept overrides it as physical damage.

Hi,

I will definitely join in a lawsuit against Samsung. I opened my laptop today to find a three-way crack and as I was staring at it in disbelief, I heard a pop and a fourth crack appeared before my very eyes.

I've contacted Samsung about it and they've told me I need to go to Digicare to assess the damage and see what it would cost as damage from misuse is not covered under warranty.

After researching this, I can see this is a common problem that floods forums, has plenty of YouTube videos made about it and even is flooding their own website. It's really disappointing after having been so fond of Samsung products for so long, and when they release a product that clearly has a design flaw, they refuse to help.

This is appalling service from Samsung.
