Bootloader locked on one ui 8

So since the one ui update rolled out to every new device (s21 ultra onwards) they have locked the oem unlocking aka bootloader unlocking. They done this as a 'improved security' but then they locked oem. What this means: it means the phones can't be modded with customers software like twrp recovery and magisk root.

What id advice is to stay on one ui 7 if you are into modding.

S21 and before aren't affected

Why, how is that good. Primary concept of android is that its open source, you are free to do anything. At this moment samsung is becoming apple

I believe you can get it remote unlocked if you contact samsung and prove you own the device.

So it stops thieves unlocking it to bypass protection, but if you prove you aren't a theif, you should get it unlocked.

For a phone that no longer gets updates, yeah that's a reason to unlock it. But for a phone still getting updates, there's not much of a point to flash custom firmware on a samsung. Doing that trips the knox fuse and breaks all the security of the phone. So you buy a secure phone, then remove that security. You're probs best flashing a more standard android phone. Kinda a waste of money to blow the knox fuse while the phone is still supported.

Hardly apple. Android is an open ecosystem allowing developers and a larger community to contribute to the android system. You have dozens of choices on the apps to use, whether you use the recommended apps in the stores, or an APK from a developer site (at your own risk).

This is alternative to Apple, who typically give their IOS users far less choices of what apps they can install, but they do a lot more security on the apps to make sure they are secure.

Yes, it is possible to root and use custom software. Whether this is right or wrong is a debate for another community. We do NOT give advice about Rooting and such on here.

Apart from anything else it completely invalidates any warranty or support from Samsung by doing this. I guess with your S21 then it is outside of software support anyway, so feel free to do what you want with it... but advice wont likely be offered here.

Rooting and custom ROMs are not part of the community guidelines here. As I said before to you in earlier post, use the XDA forums for discussing these things.

I don't, no. I'm guessing just try emailing them or talking to a support person?

I heard support could unlock it, not sure where I heard it. Also never seen anyone actually try it.

So it's a "give it a shot, good luck" thing.

Im not asking about rooting advise, only why would they block oem unlocking, afterall only 'geeks' would turn it on. It resets the phone to scare off the others, u need a password to unlock it. So it can't be safety/security.
If you bricked the phone, you wouldnt ask samsung for advice

I wouldnt root my phone out of its support. Stock software is fine for 99.99% of users.

Look i am NOT Samsung support. This is a customer forum.

Whilst I try and be helpful here, I have better things to do with my weekend than to go around circles with you about questions that are largely out of scope with this community guidelines.

Ask in XDA forums or another website dedicated for this kind of question.
