I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but phones from mobile networks often come with settings specific to that network. Even down to networks having to approve software updates, while their phones can receive them, a Samsung phone would have access immediately. It may be possible that the phone's software has it turned off behind the scenes.

Have you definitely checked all the settings in the menu?

Also, I believe that specific model has two SIM slots. Maybe try switching SIM slots to see if it's only allowed for one slot to have VoLTE.

Hi, I know these phones are a few years old but I find they do almost everything I need however , I have 2 of these both are J415FN and are the same except for the fact that one is an old "Three" phone.

There lies the problem, I have one phone which is VoLTE capable but the "Three" phone does not give me that option and as such will not take or receive calls in certain areas. Is it possible to activate it or has that one become a brick !

Thanks

Thanks for your reply, it's looking like that is the case of the network having specific settings. I've got 2 as I said so have been trying to compare the settings, both mine have only one slot although I am aware of 2 sim models, I may just have to get another phone and I hate the waste !

Thanks.

Can you compare the software of of both model to see if it matches? There may be a few options we can try regardless but that would be a good starting point.

The software information is identical except for the service provider, the Three phone shows H3G as the provider and the other shows XEU the specific codes are also different with regard to the service provider.

I'm assuming you still use a three sim in it, then? If it was on contract at the end of the contract three will give you a free unlock code if requested and it should remove network locks and function as a non network device? It may be worth giving that a shot as next port of call.

It's a bit more complex than that, I changed to Plusnet and used their sim in it for a couple of years without issue, then Plusnet closed their network and transferred to EE. when I tried to use the EE sim in it I couldn't get internet on it so I bought another phone, the same model as I liked it and that one has VoLTE on it so was all good again. So I decided to get a Smarty sim and have a spare phone as they are on the Three network so all good again, however Three have apparently turned off 3G in a nearby area where I have use for it which renders it useless for calls although the internet and texts work fine hence my problem.
