Hello, I am on a Samsung galaxy A35 and I always use a private DNS on my phone however starting today october 5th 2024 when I would switch to turn private DNS on or off it would just go back to automatic by itself very fast. When I get it to connect to my private DNS finally it proceeds to switch off within the hour and it is really annoying. This glitch seems to only be affecting samsung phones because when I try it with my other Samsung phones I get the same glitch but when I try it with other androids it works fine

I am finding a similar issue:

Device details:

Model: Samsung Galaxy A16
Android version: 15
One UI version: 7.0
Security patch level: 1 September 2025
Managed via: Google Family Link (child account)

Issue: Until recently, I was able to configure a custom Private DNS hostname (NextDNS) under Settings → Network → Private DNS, and it would persist across reboots. However, starting yesterday when the device automatically updated, the device now resets Private DNS to “Automatic” after each reboot or network change - even though I manually set it and the system confirms the change.

This behavior breaks DNS-based filtering and privacy protections I’ve configured via NextDNS. I’ve confirmed that:

The router enforces NextDNS IPs via DHCP
The child’s device connects to the correct Wi-Fi network
But outside of the home network, those private DNS settings won't apply
The issue does not occur on non-Samsung or non-Family Link devices

Request: Please confirm:

Whether this behavior is intentional or a regression introduced by a recent update
If Family Link is enforcing DNS resets on Samsung firmware
Whether there’s a supported method to persist Private DNS settings on child-managed devices

This issue undermines parental control and privacy configurations that were previously working as designed. I’d appreciate any guidance or escalation to the relevant engineering teams.
