Transferring from Kies supported device to Smart Switch supported device

I am trying to transfer contacts, data etc from my mum's old Galaxy S2 to a newer phone (Note III) and have successfully backed up the S2 in Kies, but Kies is not recognising the newer phone, suggesting Smart Switch instead. However Smart Switch does not recognise the old phone. Any suggestions? Thanks!

@CerebralCaustic: If you have backed up the S2 using KIES then the backup file should be accessible via Smart Switch. With this in mind please download the relevant version for PC or Mac by following the link below.

Once installed, open Smart Switch > Connect your Note 3 using a USB cable > Restore > Select your Backup Data > Check the drop down options at the top of the screen to see if the S2 data is available to select > Tick the data you want to restore and hit 'OK' at the bottom of the screen.
