Samsung S21 Android 14 Update

Hi,

I've had an S21 since last year September it runs fine and all but I still haven't received the Android 14 update, and I'm still on One UI 5.1

I can't seem to update from software in settings. A friend of mine with the same phone received it back in late December/January.

How can I update/fix this?

Your device comes from the United States, specifically from T-Mobile US.

As far as I can see your device is running unbranded software version instead of T-Mobile customised one, that's why you cannot receive any update.

I don't think UK service centres can treat your problem since the device is not an European one, so I'd suggest you Samsung Moderators or my friends Members Stars to give more details on assistance.

You could try forcing an update through SmartSwitch on a PC/Laptop maybe but no guarantee.

Could see if UK service centre could possible flash the phone but, there's no guarantee it'll be successful as its non-EU device. You may be charged for them to even look at it and if they can do it then they will charge for that too if you agree to the price, if not then they'll just send phone back to you.

Wait, so is the phone locked? I bought it from BackMarket with a specific unlocked category of purchase. If it's locked I'm going to go and claim a warranty

We're talking about the software version running on the phone. As @danitudi971 mentions, your phone comes from US while you're not in US so this is probably why you're not getting updates over the air.

The network of T-Mobile was mentioned and you're probably using a different network sim so I would assume it's unlocked to networks.

It's why I always recommend buying from an official UK retailer like Samsung, network provider, Argos etc because it ensures you get the updates, plus you get a 24 month manufacturer's warranty too.

When purchasing off these sites, including Amazon, eBay etc. You run the risk of getting a Non-EU phone which more than likely won't get OTA updates and you'll not have a manufacturer's warranty for UK so any repair would be charged. You've said you've got retailer warranty which I guess covers you for whatever timescale they give.

Just something to think about whenever purchasing phones in the future 🙂

If can't get an update through SmartSwitch then they'll be no other way to get the updates.

As mentioned above could try UK service centre for Samsung to see if they can flash the software but they may charge for inspection and then charge for the flash, if it can be done. Never any guarantees tbh.

I'm assuming it's a Non-EU model?

Nothing at all. It's just flashing official firmware from Samsung. No need to unlock bootloader or ect

Just obviously make sure you get the right firmware for your device. Model number ect
