If I remove them and try to set new ones, it struggles to recognise when setting up. The when it finally does (after about 20 attempts) it then will not recognise the finger prints. It worked fine til the last software update

Go to support at the bottom of the members app. Do a Diagnostics check with fingerprint, see if it shows any issues. If the issue started after the update, send an error report while you are in support also.

It's asking me to "register finger print" when I try, I just get a "hold a little longer" and nothing. Never had an issue before the update and its saying that because it can't test it can't raise an error resport

Send feedback instead of the error. That way the developers will know of your issue. One other thing you could try is back up all important data and factory reset. If you still have the issue then you may need to visit a samsung service centre if the issue doesn't get resolved.

Samsung want to charge me for repairs and upto 14 days without a phone. Its their software that buggered up my phone. I would rather spend the money on a pixel or other than give these people another penny. 14 years I've had Samsung and I'm now done with them.

Really sorry to hear that. Fingers crossed now you sent feed back an update may fix. If not I think I would also spend the money on a new phone then a repair. Especially now that the note 20 ultra is coming to an end of software support.
