Hi guys! Please don't fall for Samsung trade in options!

They will sent an email after you sent your old phone with a picture (might not be your phone in it) saying that your device its faulty! Screen burn

In order to complete your purchase you'll have to pay (in my case) £75 even of your phone its fine

Check other people statements everywhere the same issue! So Samsung its a shame!

Samsung trade in is handled by third party, but I always recommend taking pictures and videos of your working phone before sending it back to protect yourself

We have seen past posts as to where a person has sent their phone in and then Samsung has assessed the phone and not agreed with the owners appraisal of their phone @fccsumsung

If this happens the owner can accept the offer by Samsung or ask for the phone back and choose any other applicable option @fccsumsung

I can't recall a thread where a person has suggested as you have that Samsung have supplied photographic evidence that's not of their actual phone.

As suggested by @NawtyRobot it's advisable to take time and date stamped photo's.

To add > With a couple of the phone turned On.

And if possible a couple of any visible water indicator tab _ usually inside the sim card slot aperture.

Personally I opt to sell my phone's to family , friends or work colleagues or if local I pop into my local Samsung Experience Store so they assess the phone in front of me and seal the deal if I'm happy.

It's about choice.

Yes takes pictures and videos, TMT First are crooks with great reported profits, if they try it on escalate to Samsung Customer Support, when i traded my Fold3 for the Fold4, they tried it on, Samsung promptly sorted it out, but Samsung support is hit and miss.

Yes better videos with the first shot on the device about screen, so no dispute and as for sure time stamped.

I find the family option sometimes ends in drama, CeX have been very good, yes a lower offer but cash on the spot.

Oh i did find when i purchased my sons Flip4/Watch5 in the Samsung Expereince store both trade in's where handled by the team there and then, even they said safer option.

Everyone takes pictures and videos! How would you know this is going to happen?and also if you have just 1 phone hie can you take this pics and video? I'am I supposed to take pictures and videos of every single thing I own?this is ridículos

I am sorry that you had to pay the difference to complete the transaction.

Things can get heated during these types of situations, so it is best to try to remain as calm as possible because they can use it as a convenient reason for refusing to play ball with you.

On the bright side, you will end up with a new treasured device.

Of course, trading in an old device is a way of getting a discount on the cost of a new one, but it is not something that I have ever done.
I simply keep the older one as a backup or hand it over to one of a number of perpetually outstretched hands of family members. Lol.

Once I buy a device, it never goes back unless there is some sort of issue with it.!

Interesting thread and I'd just like to add my tuppence worth. 2 years ago I traded in my S9+ for a new S20 Ultra. They then said my phone had screen burn. I had to argue with them for weeks that there was no screen burn on the phone I sent them. Eventually they agreed to drop it as "a goodwill gesture".

Thinking this was a one off I made the mistake of trading in the S20 Ultra last month for the new S23 Ultra. And guess what. A few days ago I got an email saying the phone I sent back had screen burn. This time round I'd taken photos and a video before I packed up the old phone, but they say screen burn wouldn't show up on the dark background in my video.

I'm now engaged in another angry exchange with the trade in team. I've said they can have their new phone back as I won't be paying £75, but that I expect my old phone to be returned in the same perfect condition (ie no screen burn!) that I sent it.

I can't believe the stress they're causing me. To happen twice, when I look after my phones, stinks of something dodgy.

So I warn everyone - do not trade in with Samsung direct. They will try to tell you the phone you send in is damaged in some way. Will never buy from them again 😞

(ps I also work in an IT department and after my previous experience I had a colleague verify the phone as well as take photos/videos. I thought that would be more than enough proof, but Samsung are still basically calling me a liar by saying I must have known the screen was defective when I claimed the trade in!)

I've had exactly the same email, saying my phone camera had been tampered with, and sent a low resolution picture that shows nothing. And demanding £75.
The phone I sent was immaculate.

I have had to pay £75 as 7 weeks after they received my phone they said the screen was not turning on !!!! There was no issues with the phone at all when I sent it !!!!!!

Had an email this morning telling me I owe them £140 as I told them I was trading in a fold 3 and not a flip 3, and i have 28 days to pay, i told them I provided an imei number so if something went wrong it was there fault not mine, ill be seeking legal advise as ive already smashed a credit card for a new phone, no way am I paying anymore, time to move away from samsung I feel.......
