RIP Samsung Messages 2009-2026 - End of Service

RIP - Gravestone

July 2026 marks the end for Samsung Messages, as reported in various tech news outlets along with Samsung US Newsroom - it's unclear if this is a Global end, a phased closure or just limited to the US.*

*Edit: Update - Now states US Market Only (for now..!)

The default will become Google Messages so it might be a good idea to start transitioning.

"The Samsung Messages application will be discontinued in July 2026. Upgrade to Google Messages as your default messaging app today to maintain a consistent messaging experience on Android."

I tried but hate Google Messages, plus not support for replies on Smart watches that are Android, Google.

The usual Samsung flip flip, they need to grow a spine.

The only thing I dont like about Google messages is that when you delete a messag by accident, there's no recycle bin so you can't retrieve it. Once its gone, it's gone, whereas Samsung messages they would go into the recycle bin first before you deleted them permanently. I wish Google messages would do that too, cos I have deleted messages a few times by accident.

I don't lime google messages. Its boring. I like my phone to be themed everywhere not just certain apps . googles apps just don't look good and can't be customised
