obviously we know Samsung has started Android 17 internal Testing and there will be tweaks/enhancements in One UI 9.0. However will look at some of the changes we know about from Google's end.

The Material 3 Expressive Design System will bring new animations, updated icons and layout adjustments. could also be a frosted glass style in which translucent panels obscure the background to make content easier to read. There will be privacy improvements and system level protections and as indicated previously support for Registered App stores which are certified.

There will also be deeper AI integrations whereby Android can understand what a user is doing on the screen and assist automatically. A new feature currently known as Magic Actions that can generate more contextual actions from notifications and in the future there could be the ability summarise messages or suggest more detailed responses.

I do wonder how AI will develop with Android vs Samsung, will they compete or complement?

Being on the back of UI8.5 i do wonder if we will see more delays unless 2026 flagship models.

I do feel Android has gone a bit stale, almost Apple-like, a lot of rearranging the furniture changes.

That said, as a longterm Android Auto user, i love how every 1 or 2 years you get a big UI clean, which is like having a new car

Yes would like to see more innovation, in some respects It is more more it is more incremental. As we have seen though some do not take well with minor adjustments whilst others are looking for something more radical.

With the Samsung/Google partnership think they would try and avoid being outright rivals in AI,Google has an advantage in some areas.
