I received an email about sending back my old phone when upgrading to a new Samsung S26 Ultra.

Although I didn't pre-order the S26, my girlfriend did. The order number on here is not consistent with her order.

The message headers are consistent with coming from tradeinresponse.com

I'm wondering whether this is a fraud based on getting people to send their trade-in phones to the scammer, or if somehow my details got sent by my partner accidentally.

The message reads:

Hello David,

Order Confirmation

Thanks for choosing to trade in your old device. Your new Galaxy is on its way.

Your reference number:

xxxxxx

Your address:

yyyyyyy

WHAT TO DO NEXT

1.

When you receive your new Galaxy, transfer any data you need using SmartSwitch and perform a factory reset to wipe all your data from your device.
It looks a genuine email and the format of any previous emails I have received. Would suggest phoning that number for their trade in team that is shown at the bottom of your email, and discuss with them why the numbers are different.

You may be confusing your samsung order number with their trade in reference number... which are different.

For the last few years, (in England) each time I've added a phone for "trade-in" I've received an envelope and sticker with address.

Once I've done this, I get an email confirming receipt their end, and then a few days later, confirming acceptance.

TBF I don't read all my Samsung emails if they appear to just repeat what I'm already doing... IE, an email saying how to return, ... As I've done e multiple times, and just use the sticker, so I just delete emails like this without reading.
