Quick Share May Receive Airdrop Limitation For Better Security

A few months ago Google made quickshare on select Android phones compatible with Airdrop. Ahead of a wider role out Quick share may receive a limitation comparable with Airdrop.

A report from Android authority indicates that Google has removed the everywhere option from Pixel 10 Devices and now limited to contacts, Everyone for 10 minutes and your Devices.

The change was observed with some Devices under a Google Play Services update with 26.06.31 Beta but it thought to be a server side switch.

Whilst the everyone option is currently available on Galaxy Devices this may change in the future.

Not much has changed. Everyone was never a default with quick share. The change basically just makes the 10 minute timer mandatory.

Decent chance this is apple saying "hey, we know what you're doing, if you make everyone only 10 minutes, we won't block you from using airdrop".

Not directly aware of security issues with "everyone" but I know it can be used for tracking and stalking.

Yes seems pretty much an "arrangement ", would not use the unrestricted option but will have been practice for some.

Once we get access to Air drop I'm immediately turning it off so my fruit phone friends don't spam the heck out of me with memes 😂😭
