A lot of users seem excited for this many even hoping it trickles back to the S25 series.

I admitly doubt it will come to that phone as it appears to he hardware limited as well as software, I homever won't be opposed if it does drop to use. Who knows. 🤷

It's hardware. It's completely down to the technology in the screen and the ability to control individual pixels.

They showed it off at CES earlier in the year.

It's called Flex Magic Pixel and they started talking about it 2 years ago.

Not sure why people are thinking it could be a software feature. As Chris says, it can only be a hardware feature.

The only way it could be software is if samsung hid extra tech in their older phone screens, and never used it or told anyone

I'll be baffled if they did that because I'm quick at discovering hidden things usually by accident (its how I accidentally bricked my friends S23 Ultra 😅)

2 years ago? Strange, either way it's unlikely the S25 and S24 series has this especially given the S24 series is 2 years old now exactly.

The privacy screen appears to be based on Samsung Display’s “Flex Magic Pixel” technology, which it introduced in 2024. It works with the help of AI algorithms to dim the OLED pixels for certain parts of the screen, narrowing the viewing angle.

“It took over five years of engineering, testing and refining to get here," Samsung says. "We studied how people use their phones, what they consider private, and how security should feel in everyday life. The result is a fusion of hardware and software expertly calibrated to protect you without getting in your way."

Seems not as primarily hardware related, certainly an interesting feature but still not the biggest priority for me.

If it does somehow back track to ATLEAST the S24 and S25 series I wouldn't mind using it.
