Like everything else, there will be a limit.

For the moment, there is a healthy market for devices at each price point BUT sales globally are falling a little as devices are getting better and better and last longer so many are less keen to upgrade.

Would I spend £1500 on a device? No
It is only because of the great pre-order offers. Take those away.....

Some Smartphone companies have increased prices and it is likely Samsung will follow suit, Xiaomi increased prices by 7.5% and even if Samsung manage to avoid something similar we will definitely notice a difference by 2027.

This is due to increasing memory prices, component prives are also on the rise.

According to a Korean publication:

"On the 27th, I visited the Yongsan Electronics Market in Hangang-ro 2-ga, Seoul. When I asked about the price of DDR5 32GB DRAM, an essential component for PCs, at five or six stores within the Electronic Land, known as the "holy land of assembled PCs," the vendors gave me the same answer. They said that the surge in the price of memory semiconductors, which account for 15-20% of PC prices, has led to an increase in consumers hesitating to purchase. When asked, "When do you think prices will stabilize?", they replied, "I don't think prices will go down anytime soon." The surge in memory semiconductor prices has triggered a phenomenon known as "memory inflation," where the prices of finished IT products like PCs and smartphones are rising. The primary cause is the "memory super boom" driven by the artificial intelligence (AI) boom. Memory companies are focusing on high-bandwidth memory (HBM), which is five to six times more expensive than standard DRAM modules, leading to a shortage of general-purpose DRAM. As demand for AI phones and PCs has picked up, general-purpose DRAM prices have also begun to rise. Rising memory prices are leading to price increases for IT products. On the 23rd, Xiaomi raised the price of its budget smartphone, the K90, by 7.5% compared to its predecessor, citing rising DRAM prices. Samsung Electronics is also reportedly considering raising the prices of its smartphones and other IT products due to rising costs. Given the supply and demand for DRAM, the industry predicts that memory inflation will continue until 2027 or 2028. "By Hwang Jeong-su and Kim Chae-yeon, hjs@hankyung.com

see also some information here https://www.phonearena.com/news/samsung-galaxy-smartphones-might-become-more-expensive_id175259

I know that the new trifold which is expected soon is going to be very expensive, more than the cost of a normal smartphone is. They could end up like the Iphone Air which is currently unable to sell so it's not just one company that feeling the pinch 🤔

The rough expectation of the trifold costing $3000 definitely proves that. Guess your paying for the new tech as well
