There has been a fair bit of speculation on the S26 Ultra, some of it conflicting. This latest report is not definitive and we await official word. However a report in a South Korean publication suggests that Samsung will only use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the US,Japan and China and it will be Exynos in other markets. If this is the case imagine some will not be that impressed though the Exynos processors have improved in recent years.

see more information here https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-s26-ultra-may-get-a-snapdragon-chip-but-only-in-these-markets/

Noticed this, early testing shows Exynos 2600 crushes Apple's A19 pro https://www.androidheadlines.com/2025/10/samsungs-exynos-2600-crushes-apples-a19-pro-in-early-performance-leaks.html

For some reason same Exynos on the Flip 7 as on the S25 Fe seems faster on the Flip7. Overheating and battery draining and slowness have been the main issues with some phones on Exynos in the past. Lately I haven't noticed Overheating this year on the phones Samsung has loaned to me and maybe the slowness is device subjective as well? I support Exynos if it's done well but most users expect Snapdragon on Ultra devices regardless. And what about Samsung making a hybrid CPU between Snapdragon and Exynos. Not happening anymore?

I do believe if reports are correct, that the Exynos 2600 will be the first chip to use 2nm technology. This is itself might improve efficiency and form factor.

I know a lot of people struggled with Exynos in the past. I have to say that my older s21 ultra never really had any issues (for me), but some did suffer some problems.

Chipsets are getting so good now that I dont see how they can continue to improve so much year on year. Soon there will be a 'plateau', where technology simply cannot improve as much as the past 5 to 10 years.

I would be interested to see benchmarks of the exynos 2600 against the current SD elite or the next Elite Gen5.

Smiley

As a counter to the Snapdragon desire here, all I need is the following. (Hopefully Samsung's chip foundry has hit a home run this time.)

○ To be as or more efficient in performance per watt than the Snapdragon then that's great, I'd take efficiency over a slightly higher top score. Hopefully 2nm helps.
○ Support APV like the new Snapdragon does (Hope so considering Samsung made the APV codec but stranger things have happened.)
○ Have a relatively comparable GPU that's well supported to work in apps. Hopefully one that can assist the ISP quicker as thats an issue on my S24U.
○ Snapdragon chips don't actually fully support all the GPU protocols needed for the Linux terminal to have native acceleration so Tensor, Exynos and Mediatek actually win out here. Snapdragon uses software GPU emulation on the CPU to support some protocols. The potential of Linux apps with DEX is far far more enticing to me than just having a Snapdragon chip for raw multicore speed in games. Apparently this is why it's missing on Andriod 16 currently for us while Google is pushing fast ahead here ready for it's desktop Android merge.

I believe Exynos is better now, but just to be mindful that the same Chipset acts different on different devices, probably it's related to the other components in the system. Ultra phones typically use more power. The S20 Ultra was draining super fast and overheating like a frying pan and Note 20 Ultra drains battery in a few couple of hours. My S24 Ultra on Snapdragon was overheating alot in the first months of use until some updates fixed the problem and it's on Snapdragon. I think they have to be very mindful of how the CPU supports the system.
