Word that Google plans to extends Gemini access to pre teen children, Google has been sending out emails to parents (at least in the US as was reported in the New York Times) and will be available to Households who are using the Google Family link. sure there will be mixed views on this though and are there really sufficient safeguards with the children's version. Google has pointed out that there will not be any data collection and is a chance to learn how to use AI responsibly, citing educational value. However there still will be some concern .

It seems logical, but it's not. AI confuses adults too, what can it do to children? I have a few confusing conversations with Gemini, it simply refuses to do something at one point, then apologizes, then does it anyway, but only on the 3rd attempt. And it has already started to flatter, which has been published. We will not know how many of these conversations are actually viewed by real people, whether they only view those to which we responded with the offered emojis at the end, or they view everything, but sometimes I really feel like someone is alive on the other side. Fan fact - one of the AIs spontaneously stopped responding in one language, because it was getting so many thumbs down ratings.

AI is tool, only tool. But even adults have started to forget that and some already consider them their best friends. Let kids play with other kids, not with AI 🤔

First, adults need to be educated on how to use AI, if adults don't know, children will know even less, and the potential for abuse is enormous. And there are still no laws about what AI can and can't do.

It's not like AI isn't being abused already. I can't see how introducing kids to AI would make matters worse.

For one thing, Google have the unfortunate habit of allowing Gemini to propogate false statements and facts, technical, political or otherwise. Just like modern media and other platforms, it can be used to abuse the reality of true world facts. The sooner kids are able to correct Gemini on factual learned data, the better it will be in the long run.

After my hours of conversations with Gemini, I have come to the conclusion that some constructive feedback is worked on. There are many areas I've noticed improved with Gemini even just 2 months ago. There are also many fact regressions as well as inconsistencies within Gemini itself per device.

For example, Gemini is supposed to have pcontext (the system to remember personalised information) but not all devices seem to work right now. I noticed both my Poco and S21 Ultra can both keep previous conversational topic details from prior sessions, however my S25 Ultra doesn't (pretty ironic for the AI phone, I must admit 😂). It's clearly a WIP, so it's something only time will (hopefully) improve.

This will be almost like having a play mate, more like an invisible one. There needs to be safeguarding and parental control put on this AI for children, unless the developers know very well what they are doing, we are walking on uncharted waters. I hope it can be used to develop children's brain and socially.

Not all developers are well-intentioned, there are also malicious AIs, and what has now turned into a trial of Google for its monopoly in search has grown into a fight for marketable AI, and could have far-reaching consequences for Gemini, but also for other AIs.

Gemini on my S24 ultra remembers previous conversations, i.e. it is enough just to open a specific chat and continue talking. However, it happened to me that in some new conversation he mentioned previous conversations, and it was not written anywhere that he could do that. And apparently it can.
