So who uses 'Modes and Routines' ?? If not then give them a try !

Over the past year or two, this feature that used to be called 'Bixby routines' has had a bit of a revamp.

The features and settings that can be made from being in a particular location, or when a particular condition is 'met' has expanded and actually this is now a very powerful tool.

It can save significant battery by turning off features that you dont use in some locations, and also to change the behaviour and look of the phone in other circumstances.

I have only a few things setup but these I believe help with extend battery life and give feedback when actions are carried out.

A few examples below in screenshot and description.

Leaving home. I turn off the WiFi by default and turn mobile data on. Sound mode is switched on and NFC for mobile payments is turned on.

Arriving at work. I turn back on my WiFi and switch off NFC. I also command the phone into a vibrate only mode to not upset the office with phone ringing. I also change my UI lockscreen and homepage pictures to something that is representative of work. For me that is space themed.

Arriving home. On the opposite side to leaving home, I turn on WiFi to allow connection to my router and turn off NFC. I have no need to make payments in my home.

Unlock finger print. Shout out to one of my favourite youtubershaylsworld for this one. When I press my fingerprint it flashes my 'edge lighting' and vibrate once. This gives a nice UI notiification when a successful unlock has occurred. I like this feedback !😉

After midnight I want things a bit more chilled. So i turn down brightness, eye comfort on and power saving on. Performance profile light and Do not disturb is switched on as well as turning off ring tones

Last week I was looking for a solution to tell me when the battery reaches full during charging. When battery is 100% during charging and it is plugged in, the phone will buzz and spoken words 'Charge status. Your phone has now charged'. I like this one a lot.

So to summarise... check out these modes and routines if you dont already make use.

If you do have some routines already set up... what are your own favourites ? Any that you think might be good to share ?

I have a few.

NFC off, until wallet is opened. And then turns back off again- only on when I need it.

2- when headphones connect play spotify

3- sleep, once sleep is detected turn on power saving mode, and turn on light performance.

I have now stolen the fingerprint unlock edge lighting 🔥

I like the NFC one. Perhaps integrated with both pay apps for google pay and samsung pay. 👍

I have the sleep 😴 already and connected with my watch ultra.

But I forgot about that one 😉

I used to have quite a few.

But since having the beta on the s24 ultra and now the s25 ultra dont really feel the need of them anymore.

The phones are more then capable to sort themselves out.

And with all day battery its a no brainer.

PS. Also one has to be careful as some routines can mess up and cause issues conflicting with each other.

I use them mostly for tracking notification automations, very useful, the basic morning routines.

Out of interest what is your routine using different finger print?

I have the edge lighting for a second and also a phone vibration during unlocking.

It gives good feedback when unlocked and I have entered it three times, once for each fingerprint. I also have a different colour, blue, green or red for which fingerprint i use... just for kicks and fun 😂

Unfortunately you can't seem to add an 'or' clause to the fingerprint... so needs an entry for each. Assume this is due to security.

This whole routine was a suggestion by hayls and is fun to add.

Yeah they are very powerful aren't they, I have fairly similar ones to you. I also have one that uses Smartthings to turn a lamp on at sunset. I manage NFC by turning it on if Wallet is opened and it gets turned off again when exiting the app. Really like that one with the unlock fingerprint, am going to try that!!

Routines can certainly be powerful, the ones I use are pretty similar - nothing really earth shattering I do have one where notification is read out once Battery levels drops below 20%.

I personally haven't found a mode or routine that I need to set up that would be beneficial to me @smiley

It is an awesome powerful tool however 👍

My Home Wi-Fi switches to ⁵G as I leave the house and Auto reconnects when I return home thanks to Intelligent Wi-Fi in the Wi-Fi Settings.

The Unlock Fingerprint routine sounds cool 🤔
