A Question To Debate.....

We see so many posts on here about One UI and it's various itinerants, delays, bugs, missing things, excesses etc.

We also see more recently Samsung moving away from creating or running apps similar to those offered by Google (Messages for example).

So, would it make sense for future new releases to move away from One UI and to use Stock Android instead?

Go 👍

First comment from me....

Updates and patches would be quicker.

But as we got used to earlier updates, people will still complain that they are not even earlier.

Imagine, people complaining that December update isnt out on 15th November 🤣 🤣 🤣

It honestly doesn't bother me if an update is late. As long as one arrives at some point in the month. I like Samsung's one ui and prefer most of Samsung apps. If I wanted stock android I would go and buy a pixel. Which I know would hate 😂

Like you, I take the view that updates will arrive when they are ready and until then I have the most recent software and updates.

I've had pixel (6 Pro), pleasant phone but like the S21 Ultra they shared one of Samsung's worst ever modems so network connectivity was awful.

As for stock Android, didn't see a huge difference overall.

Stock android isn't really a thing anymore. The original Android source is so bare and featureless that it's not usable. This didn't use to be the case but hey, that's where we're at. So every phone runs some modified version of android. So it's more of, the more features and unique things you add, the longer it takes to incorporate new updates from Google themselves. One ui is more of just a visual skin that makes Samsung unique. I'd say the biggest reason for the slowdown is just how many unique features Samsung adds and tweaks. Such as knox and dex, less so the visual design of the os.

Eg, the current november update is delayed for 2 reasons. 1, Samsung are getting android 15 beta ready for testing and 2, Samsung added a really cool feature to auto blocker in the november update, they then released another update to quickly remove it. We're all waiting for the final "fixed" version to release, probs without that feature

In my opinion, stock android is you love it or you hate it. It's not for everyone, same as other skins on top of it. I've seen a lot of people in forums coming from pixel phones and used to be "die hard fans" of stock android going to samsung and ONE UI. Yes one ui needs smoother animations, etc and it's not 100% perfect and same goes to stock android as when android 15 update showed on my old pixel 6 pro it was buggy at first and till this day there's some bugs. I don't mind, like few of you said to wait updates for a bit as long as bugs and everything runs smoothly after updating my device. I don't mind stock android, it's just personal preferences I guess, but I don't see samsung running on pure stock android in future, they might ditch one ui in general and come up with something purely AI based in future you never know. 🙃

I personally prefer One ui. I know one ui is a heavy launcher and things can buggy. But I think samsung needs to work on improving animation to make it smoother as stock android. Plus tech YouTubers hate when samsung depualte it's own apps when android already has one 😂. To me personally I quite samsung knox and the security features that comes with samsung phones.

I suppose it boils down to why you buy a particular brand of phone. Some people like One UI and some prefer the stock android of the pixel phones. Motorola phones are nearly stock android but still have a different launcher and some customisation features. All brands of android phones have their own features on top of stock android. I prefer Samsung's my files and the gallery app plus the extra security. Stock android doesn't have a gallery app so you're stuck with Google photos, with Samsung you can use either. There's not that many duplicate apps apart from messages.
