SWA-9000S vs. SWA-8500S for HW-Q70R soundbar

Hello

I have a Samsung HW-Q70R soundbar. I know that the rear speakers SWA-8500S are compatible. I also saw that officially the newer speakers SWA-9000S are not compatible but some people reported that they work with the HW-Q70R soundbar.

Can somebody confirm that the SWA-9000S are compatible with the HW-Q70R soundbar?

What is the difference between the SWA-8500S and SWA-9000S? Which one is better to buy? I'm from Germany and the SWA-8500S are cheaper than the SWA-9000S but I think the SWA-9000S are newer.

What is then the difference between the SWA-8500S and SWA-9000S? The SWA-9000S is around $50 more expensive in my region.

The 8500s have been around for quite a while. They are the best speakers for your Soundbar.

The 9000s are for the Sound+ range with the integrated subs from last year. We have had reports that these speakers will work with your Soundbar, but of course we cannot guarantee this.

In terms of audio and audio quality is there a difference between 8500s and 9000s? That means is it worth spending more money for the 9000s or will I not hear any difference in quality and volume?

I seems like the SWA 8500S is more suitable for usage with sub woofer while the SWA 9000S since already was designed for soundbars with integrated sub woofers (like MS650), is weaker on the bass.

I ended up getting the SWA-9000s, they work and sound great. They complete the surround experience. They connect very easily directly you to the Soundbar.

I ended up going with the 8500 because of te frequency range compatibility and I must say if you use the correct setup the sound just fine don't need no +6 or rear level for me it's 2 but that's because there not placed at the ideal spot

If you want to level them using a dB gauge there's a trick for testing it's hidden

turn sb off and press fo the soundmode button on remote 5sec a test tone sequence will run with whitenoise on channel one by one, when your done just turn it of and on and adjust the levels that where to high or low.

heres a distance guide taking my own situation using Dolby guidelines.

ive got 5m(10ft) to work with

- so rears at 1.5m(3ft) in the wall (1m would be perfect but I don't wand stands)

- front and sub at 3.5m(7ft)

- rear at an 45~60 degree angle, front should be to but I'm not gonna split my Q70R and it's compensated for that.

- the sub the best is not to place it in a corner but let it breath keep at least 20cm(8") clear at all sides

*the ft are estimates that use the s.i. like all scientists and Dolby does

on feel I had the rears at +1 but after using testmode and dB/freq. analyzer

I adjusted rears +2 that's compensation for not being in the ideals place.

btw my hearing is still perfect for my age gets tested every year because of my occupation.

Hi Andrew, think you've answered most my questions. Soundbar q70 and correct rear speakers 8500s. I need a decent length of cable. Am I correct that you are saying the cable length is 5m? If not I'm struggling, can you advise if not how to make them longer? Carnt believe these speakers are around 80 dollars in The US. Many thanks.

I'm sorry, can someone just clarify which speaker set has the most rounded and full frequency response?

I have the 8500s and they are very light on low mid and bass response. They add to the "surround" effect but also tend to be very heavy on the treble (yes, I know, 2-inch speakers will do that).

Also, an an alternative, has anyone experimented with just wiring your own "other" set of speakers to the wireless receiver? Obviously, the wattages would need to match, etc, but maybe this is a hack to get around the cheap build quality of the tiny speaker set.
