Playing BBC iPlayer on R1 speaker - how do I do this?

I listen to BBC iPlayer downloads on my phone all the time. I've just bought an R1 speaker and want to listen either via bluetooth and/or WiFi but have no idea how to do this. I've paired the speaker and the phone, but the sound doesn't come out of the speaker. I've connected both to my WiFi but the sound doesn't come out of the speaker. A podcast that was stored on the phone did come out of the speaker, but that's not the answer. The manual doesn't give me a clue.

I also want to be able to do this from my Windows Lenovo laptop.

Are you still having this issue?

Do all other apps play out of the speaker?

If so this may be an issue with iPlayer.
