Soundbar keeps switching between eARC and D.IN automatically

I have a HW-Q700A soundbar and a 7 series TV. Everything has been working fine for well over a year, but the last few days when I'm watching TV via my Fire TV cube, the soundbar keeps switching source from eARC to D.IN for about 5 seconds, then switches back to eARC. This happens every 10 minutes or so.

Setup is as follows

HDMI 1 (eARC) - Soundbar

HDMI 2 - Fire TV Cube

I also have an Xbox Series X plugged into the HDMI pass through in the soundbar. The issue doesn't happen when I'm using the xbox, only when I'm using the Fire TV cube.

I've tried resetting both the TV and the Soundbar but neither has helped.

Has anyone come across this issue before?

Came across the samen problem...

I just moved to a new house. My setup worked for 2 years without any issues, now i put up the same setting, but the issue starts tot occur...

I cannot watch my tv properly... I have to shut the soundbar down, because the sound keeps falling away when switching between the modes...

I tried everything, resetting, unplugging, different ports...

Please need help.

I cannot accept that the soundbar is broken... There has to be a solution!

Any luck on a fix? My soundbar has been fine for 2 years. Last week had this issue of the soundbar 'searching' for input to deliver output .i.e. switches every 2 seconds DiN eArc > Blue Tooth > wifi > hdmi > TV speakers - around again in a loop.

I had a similar issue and this solved my problem. https://amzn.to/48QbEE0 It disables the CEC on whichever device is causing the interference.

I have this issue too. The CEC blocker item posted above fixes it, but it makes it impossible to control everything with 1 remote now.

Anyone have another fix?

I have the same issue.

HDMI 1 - PC

HDMI2- PS5

HDMI OUT - BENQ TK710STi

After 40-50 minutes, my Q990F Soundbar switches to TV arc and the screen goes black.

This issue appeared from the beginning. Purchased the soundbar 2 weeks ago.

I found a solution which maybe works for you, for me it does but with other drawbacks

I deactivated HDMI CEC on my Benq beamer. With that, my Beny Android TV dongle is not controllable via the remote.

If I don't need to adjust any settings there, and dont need to run firmware updates as well as don't use the dongle at all, it can be fine. But be careful, maybe your TV/Projector remote needs CEC in general. You might land up at their support. (Which I did and the told me just to hold play/pause button when using the control key ring button or the ok/select button and turn CEC back on.

So please, Samsung support kindly react to this problem and provide a solution!

Update:

I found a workaround:

If I deactivate "audio return" on my TV/projector or select "3.5mm audio jack" instead, no signal will be sent to the soundbar and I don't see the automatic switching to tv earc problem anymore. Hope this helps

It seems a new HDMI cable fixed the issue. It might have been the upgrade from a 2.0 to a 2.1 cable for more bandwidth, or perhaps the old cable was just damaged from being bent. In any case, the problem is gone.

Hi,

I had the same issue couple of times in three years with my old Samsung TV (13yrs) and my Samsung soundbar.

It is really frustrating as TV switches continuously and reset sound volume..

Tried all possible solutions.. reset, anynet on/off, cables, changin setup arc/not arc TV box connected to sound bar or to TV.. no results..

In the end, both times (second time I did not remember what I did the first) I've been able to solve it by turning off the shop mode (soundbar off - hold volume down on soundbar for 10 - 15 seconds till shop off is shown).

I then found my cat was resetting the shop mode by sleeping on the soundbar...

Bonjour, même genre de problème : je viens juste de faire l'acquisition de la barre samsung q990f. les 2 hdmi en entrée de cette barre me posent des problèmes :

branchement boitier multimédia xaomi mibox4 avec cable hdmi (4k) fourni avec la barre , l'affichage coupe toutes les 5 secondes , en moyenne.

branchement de ma xbox one S , rien, pas d'affichage !

je pensais brancher au moins 1 élément en direct sur la barre .. j'y parviens avec un vieux boitier mutlimédia Meder8 qui ne fait que du HD, pas de coupures video dans ce dernier cas.

du coup je vais rebrancher la xbox et le xaomi sur la tv (lg75qned876) mais sur les 4 prises hdmi , il y en a 2 en 2.1 et 2 en 2.0 ,le hdmi 3 est utilisé pour la connection de la barre (e ARC)

le logiciel de la barre est à jour.

et ce soir :

j ai un nouveau cas: entrée HDMI 1 sélectionnée , video et son boitier mutlimédia Meder8 ok pendant quelques temps et perte connexion hdmi 1 sans rien toucher , la barre passe à l'entrée tv arc , si je repasse en hdmi 1 ça refonctionne 30 secondes et rebelote ??? alors que certaines fois ça passe sans problème ???

cable hdmi de bonne qualité 2.1 , c'est à n'y rien comprendre !!!

le pb pourrait venir du mode magasin ?

Translation: Hello, I have a similar problem: I just bought the Samsung Q990F soundbar. The two HDMI inputs on this soundbar are causing me problems:

When I connect my Xiaomi Mi Box 4 media player with the HDMI (4K) cable that came with the soundbar, the display cuts out every 5 seconds, on average.

I connected my Xbox One S, but nothing, no display!

I was thinking of connecting at least one device directly to the soundbar... I can do that with an old Meder8 multimedia box that only outputs HD, and there are no video interruptions in that case.

So I'm going to reconnect the Xbox and the Xiaomi to the TV (LG75QNED876), but of the four HDMI ports, two are 2.1 and two are 2.0. HDMI 3 is used for the soundbar connection (eARC).

The soundbar software is up to date.

And tonight:

I have a new issue: HDMI input 1 is selected, video and sound from the Meder8 multimedia box work fine for a while, then the HDMI 1 connection is lost without me touching anything. The soundbar switches to the TV ARC input. If I switch back to HDMI 1, it works for 30 seconds and then the problem returns. Sometimes it works perfectly fine.

The HDMI cable is good quality 2.1. It's baffling!

Could the problem be related to the store mode?
