Smart Tag 2 location history

Hi all. Hope you can help. I have the smart tag on my cat. I have been checking his location periodically and he has appeared at various different places. When I check location history though, it's only showing his current location. After he returned home, I checked the history again and it just showed his home address. Is it possible to show all the different locations he has been?

The smart tag 2 only gets location updates if near samsung devices with offline finding enabled. So your cat probably just likes to go places where there's not a lot of people. Location history will show everywhere the tag has been spotted. If no device spots it, it won't have anything to show.

Since you have a samsung phone, the tag always updates at home, as your phone is near.

Now the explanation is out of the way.

If you can see a location live, it should be on the history too. Kinda strange if you can see updates but they don't show on the map. Check if you have the right date selected in location history. Also try using the smart things app or the find app. 2 separate apps that do the same thing with your tag

Just to clarify. I can see it pinging at different locations on the map while he is out. But these locations don't show in the location history.

Yeah I realised halfway through my reply, apologises.

In the history page, near the bottom there'll be a date, make sure the date is correct. Have been confused why mine is blank only to realise the wrong date is set.

Also try the other app. Smart things and the find app both show tracker data, if one doesn't work, the other might

You don't happen to have encrypt offline location on do you? That might cause something like this.

Can't say I've ever had mine not showing anything, I have around 5 trackers by now. Erm.

If you just turned history on today, it might only record from now. So give it a day?

Make sure power save mode isn't on too.

This could be some master plan from Steve to stop his adventures being found out. (Saw the tag was called Steve, hopefully thats the cat's name)

You may need to reset and re-setup your key. Forget the key, and resetup. When I click history, it shows the full location recorded.

Hi,

I have the same problem. Watched the location ping all around the neighbourhood and then checked later to show my husband the map and only shows the furthest location for half the time and home for the other half which is incorrect. Did you find a resolution?

Hey, no, I never got a resolution. I ended up ditching it and buying a tracker instead. It turned out to be a total waste of money for me. If you get to the bottom of it, please let me know xx
