I can add a little extra to what robot said. In areas where there are lots of people, tracking is really good. It just takes a single Samsung phone to be in range for a location to be found. This range is larger on the 2 than the original.

Though the main extra is samsungs version of apple precision finding. Using the UWB chip in modern plus and ultra series phones, as long as you're in range of your tag, your phone will show a marker accurate to maybe 1cm. Just follow where your phone points and you'll find your item.

The tag 2 also supports lost mode. It makes the tag unable to be reset and given a new owner, it alerts you when it is found, it allows the tag be scanned by a phone to show your contact info.

As a final thing, it has power save mode. Turning this on disables UWB features and the speaker, but gives you 3 years battery. Normal battery life is around 1 year

They are pretty good in my opinion

I use mine alot on all my bags, I travel alot. So knowing my bags arrived in the same country and it is heading to the luggage pickup

The tag shows up on a map, and it uses a shared Samsung network to transmit location via a Samsung device nearby.

There is a geoloation tacking too so if your device leaves a certain area it alerts me too. Or if my keys arent near me

I like them, I have 9 of them! 😄

You must know the limitations though - they work by being pinged by ANY Samsung Galaxy device, plus your own.

They are very effective in urban areas, with plenty of people, however if you lose it in the middle of a forest where there is noone, it won't help you - they must get pinged by nearby Samsung devices.

I travel for work so have them in my bags, suitcases, my kids have them in their bags and on their door keys, I have some hidden on their bikes... Really useful bits of kit.

The last thing to add is that whilst there are plenty of other BT trackers on the market, you are bound by their NETWORK to help you find them. Currently not many are linked with Google Find My (i.e all android devices) so if you have Tile for example, less people will have that app to help you find your tag Vs The volume of Samsung phones in the wild. (Also why Apple Airtags are so effective, soooo many iPhones kicking about)

Tile - circa 450k global users
Samsung - circa 1 billion active Galaxy phones globally
Apple - circa 2 billion active iPhones globally

Play the odds!

Hi,I would like to buy it to hide it on my e-scooter,so that if I go take it and someone stole it i can locate it from the app.To be tracked, the smart tag 2 needs a samsung device or an android device? and does bluetooth need to be attive?

Lost mode makes it so the smarttag cannot be used with another device? Does that mean if I move to a new phone, my smarttags are kaput, or does it link to my Samsung account?

If a smart tag is put into lost mode, it gets permanently linked to the owner's samsung account until the owner disables lost mode.

So it works on any device that is signed into the owner's account. It even works on computers via the web browser.

The idea is that if someone who isn't the owner has a tag that's in lost mode, the tag is effectively useless. It cannot be reset and is locked to the owner's account. Though again, it should still work on any device signed into the owner account.
