Galaxy SmartTag 2

Hey all! Hope everyone's new year is going well so far.

I recently bought 2 galaxy smart tag 2s, one of which doesn't really have much purpose.

My question is, how do I set up a routine so that whenever I press the button on the tag, it runs a routine on my phone (If this is even possible). Also, how do I let more people view the location of the tag as it says "Not allowed" in the SmartThings app of the 2nd person's phone.

Hi.

I dont have the tag 2 but the older tag 1.

I doubt you can do a routine on them.
But You can customise what the button presses do.

I believe I once set the button press to turn on my Phillips lights if I remember.

I use tag in my car and keys for my teenager so I know where he is roughly.

They are quite handy thensmart tags.

Also I believe they only work with the one account you set them too. So one phone only unless you are logged into the same account on the other device.

I have 8x ST2 and 4x ST2, all but 2 are in use, majority are vehicle, bag type trackers, 2 are used at home for button press routines.

Best to install the Samsung Find app, but tags or items as its called cannot be shared, so if you want to track someone or something it has to still be linked to your account.

For allowing family tracking mobiles and watches are better, by sharing location, we use that allot, plus with Geo fencing automatic routines as to who is at work, school, etc... with a series of precondition.

Thank you! Quite disappointing on the family tracking side but it's probably my fault for not looking into it more. Quite a good idea for the vehicle tracking so might look into that.

I suppose fallout from AirTag stalkers, family tracking once shared is excellent mainly using mobile, but even though bith cars are connected and apps, I prefer the SmartTags.

Hey! Thanks for your reply. Not sure what I'm going to do now as the family members device we were planning on tracking on holiday, is quite old so not sure if it'd work very well. Might have to just use them as some sort of smart button, thanks for your help!

Do you have any advice for tracking someone on a holiday? Their phone is quite old so not sure what to do if we can't have the family tracking

Your the 2nd person this week who has said their shared trackers are not working...

I have 9 SmartTag2's and have successfully set them up and shared them with my family who can all see them on Samsung Find (along with all our devices) 🤷

Are these people in your 'Samsung Family' on your account?

Can share live location on WhatsApp but it will likely really hit your battery

Hey! they're working fine (as of now) i just need them to function for others to see them. I'm sharing with 2 people that's apart of my SmartThings app, and they both have control of certain devices (Including the tracker) but it won't let them view the location, As it says "Not Allowed".

Had to go into the find app after I shared with the selected people, then go into settings in find and press "Share this devices location", Thanks for your help!
