Freestyle projector battery problems

I purchased the official Samsung Freestyle battery in June last year. Haven't used it much but tried last night and it looks completely dead. Attempted to charge with the official Samsung charger and cable and after 8 hours it's just a single white flashing light?

Any ideas or help would be appreciated, thanks.

Me too. Same problem. Doesnt seem to have any charge in it. Tried charging it for 24 hours and no change. Anyone out there?

@Seiko4169 @Members_emB6whw: The Freestyle must be connected to a power source in order to function, and cannot be charged. If you connect the device to a USB cable and charging plug, then this should provide the power required to utilise the device. The white LED light is for the remote control, which can also be charged via the USB port.

We are referring to the freestyle BATTERY not the projector. The official dedicated Freestyle BATTERY base sold by Samsung does NOT work. Worse Samsung ignore the customers!

@Seiko4169: Apologies for the confusion. Do you have access to another compatible charger that you can try to see if the issue persist? If not, have you tried connecting to both USB inputs when attempting to establish a charge?

Thabks for the reply. Ive tried 3 different chargers. None allow the battery to recharge.

Ive also connected the projector to the secndary usb OUTPUT to see if that helps. Nothing. Samsung should take these batteries back, understand the fault and once confirmed issue those effected with a new unit or refund.

Ignoring the customer does so much harm to the brands reputation!

Hi, I have the exact same problem. Brought my in August last year...hardly used it.

Some people got it worked by charging it continuesly for 24 hours but it didn't work for me any news from service or samsung personals on this problem officially.?

I had the same issue. Took it to a Samsung repair shop, they confirmed it was dead and replaced it under warranty.

3 months later after one use, the same thing happened to the new one. Clearly some design flaw somewhere. So many people reporting the issue online but Samsung are not formally acknowledging it.

Hi where are you from how you are getting it replaced i am unable to get it replaced eventhough i have gaurantee for this product. Please help samsung customer case and service heads don't have idea about it in India..

So I discussed it with the Samsung online chat team. Explained the issue and that it was under warranty.

they advised where the in-country service centre was. I took it there, and because it was under warranty, they then engaged directly with Samsung for the repair. Ended up being a replacement.

mine has since failed again. I complained to Samsung as it was now out of warranty, but as I’d only had the replacement 6 months and used it 3 times, they agreed to review it. I’m awaiting feedback.

Dear Samsung team,

I bought the Freestyle projector and battery base in Oman, I am also facing the same issue with the battery base, It is not charging after the first charge. I tried charging it for long hours but still it is not charging. Please help us on this issue.

Just wondering about a replacement, are the batteries currently for sale on your website the same design or has it been reworked and improved as part of the Freestyle 2 development?

Hi NSK2000, I think there is no S/W or H/W update on freestyle battery base as it was being manufactured by third party vendor of SAMSUNG. SAMSUNG handles only marketing and sales of Battery base which was made in Korea to the entire world.

I’m worried about buying this Battery for the Freestyle Gen-2 now.

…but thinking technically, it must be a chipset or circuit that fails in these batteries - if only an electronics engineer were to investigate what the common failure (circuit/chip) might be …often it’s an easy fix for someone handy with a soldering iron!

That is better idea but there are no tear down videos or any kind of official/ unofficial doc or video on same addressing problem in internet as it will deem warrenty of the product. Hope some one know better (who knows electronics better) make a video on same addressing exact problem. All the best with the product any way to charge it immediately as per instruction manual before it blinks last LED indicator on battery.
