Samsung Messages Alternative NOT Google

I would have never in a million years imagined that Samsung would make such a downgrade like this and force Google messages on us. If I wanted Google, I would have bought a pixel. Have always been a proud Samsung girl...but this is utterly disappointing. Ive been trying to wait last minute in hopes that they would realize how unhappy we are and keep messages.

Sort of like when tiktok went dark and we all went to RedNote and not FB and Instagram like they expecting. Still hoping for that but in the meantime...

What is everyone switching to that is NOT google?

Out of interest, which country are you in? As far as I am aware, currently it is just the US where Samsung Messages is slated to close? (This is the UK forum)

What's so bad about Google Messages? It is simply an app with a means to an end, to send a message....

..dunno why everyone is so anti Google Messages. I use it and find it works brilliantly? To be fair, I've not used anything else to compare it with... 🤔😐

Android is Google I've never had any problems with Google messages which I've always used & it works perfectly

The closure in July only applies to US at the moment. Looks like Samsung Messages does not have a long term future though due to lack of investment and Google Messages has support for Additional features.

Hi and welcome, tbh I'm not sure why you are surprised by this. Samsung have for decades removed features both hardware and software. Iris scanner, gear 360, S Pen on folds, cameras in smartwatches, single take, are just a few examples. It's unfortunate of course especially if they are things you use. Samsung often says they remove things that the majority of their customers don't use. Like you i was a fan of Samsung messages but moved to Google messages before I would be forced. If it helps Google messages are not to bad but I share your frustrations.
