So I got the new Health app update (v7) and... I'm mesmerized by the fact that they messed it up so badly.

It was a great opportunity for new, fresh looks and for letting the user fully customize what data they really want to see, where they want it.

Instead we get (just some examples):

-tons (and I mean TONS) of wasted space, especially with those huge margins that look like a css error.

- that useless, unremovable card at the top. I don't want to be constantly reminded of "finding my best sleep time" throughout the day!

-resting heart rate is buried so much I was looking for it for fifteen minutes straight (vitals tab - heart rate - days -focus on resting hr). Are you serious?

-before I could very easily see a number for my hr recovery rate after a workout. Now I must check what the start hr was, what the finish hr was and subtract the latter from the former. What on earth?

-one would expect to be able to swipe between tabs but no, that would be too much standards-following.

-way too colorful for my taste without any appearance options.

-body composition is under... Nutrition?

In short, very, very disappointing. They took a mediocre-to-ok app and turned it into a frustrating experience.

No official release yet or beta given its linked to Unpacked25 July 22nd.

Of course I did, this solves nothing of what I mentioned above. The only good new thing seems to be the ability to halve the card size. Otherwise, reorganizing cards was there before.

And yet people are getting it. There are articles about it and threads on Reddit - but what difference does it make anyhow?

I rearranged it to fit my needs. In its first iteration it's good. There will be further improvements no doubt. Like swiping to next category and turning off focus card

Well I liked it but dislike that its sort of Apple style and now overly complicated, where is the AI.

Looks allot better on a ZFOLD7 screen

Plus all new features require UI9.0

And we will have to see if Samsung pulls any planned obsolescence and say only new watches get new features

Indeed it does look much better in terms of white space on it, so I hope they fix it. (But it does little for all my other concerns...)

Yeah, that's an issue; currently there's a lot of stuff that only lead to empty pages saying that the feature requires a newer watch running One UI 9. These elements and pages should NOT exist if they're not supported. Just give me a pop-up if you want to advertise newer products,taking up whole pages in the app to promote upgrades is unacceptable.

Its odd as a release but not official or beta, so there will be issues.

Sadly these do not seem like issues (with the exception of the huge margins) but design choices . Like the two toolbars -one at the top, another at the bottom. Those are basic UI/UX mistakes.

What I dislike the most is the lack of any hard data and graphs that show next to no information while also being insanely inaccurate. Some of these changes were already present on the previous version I should mention but they are getting worse with this new update. For example, why can I not see what my skin temperature actually is while sleeping? Why is the actual data completely hidden now, and instead, all I get to know is whether it is above or below my baseline range? Also, as you can see, my skin temperature went both above and below my usual range, but it just says 0.1 C above baseline. Also, what if my baseline range is abnormal to begin with? I'd never know, and then what actual use is this information to me in order to gauge my health?

Same with blood oxygen; if that chart is trying to tell me that the below 90% dip lasted just 5 seconds long, then the whole graph would correspond to a time of no more than 60 seconds in length and not 6 hours like it's trying to show. If they want to show just quick and simple graphs that look nice that'll give you the general gist of things then they should also provide proper data intensive and highly accurate graphs for when you want more than just surface level information but a proper deep dive into the raw data. I want to see more about that dip I had down to 70% but I can't.

This is graphs for children not people who are serious about their health data.
