How annoying is this? One of the most useful features on a Samsung phone is being discontinued from 1st of October.

It's already happened as the sync function has been removed from settings page therefore you can't back up the galley.

Not the same, it won't sync folders/albums like gallery sync (pictures all end up in the Camera roll folder). Also it's one-way only - backup not sync. If you delete from the phone it stays in the OneDrive folder.

No, it's been removed from my S22ultra in the sync page, where the gallery is normally been at the top it's now gone, also in the Gallery app the sync icon is also gone.

I have the micosoft onedrive app so I still have my photos in there as well as in the Google Photo's app so at least my photos will still be backed up.

Given Microsoft's truly awful quality control on software updates versus Google, I'll use Google to back up every time.

You'll still have access to whatever you have in One Drive is my understanding, just anything new won't go there.

Set device to back up to Google One?

Had a look. My mum's s22 doesn't have it exactly like you say. But my s25u has it as if nothing has happened.

Google doesn't support gallery albums - it will upload pictures but they're not organised

Yes but I'd have to go through every uploaded picture and put them in the right albums.

There is talk that Samsung might be working on their own Cloud Storage offer - for a fee of course.

I have concerns with this approach as Samsung (and Google) have history of launching things then a year or three later quietly dropping them again.

If Samsung do go down this route, I also wouldn't be surprised if it is badged as Samsung but actually run by Google behind the scenes....

I won't be buying a Samsung camera again, Already found the S25+ very disappointing!
Already put off with their TVs (I have 2), and after latest software update, they both keep asking you to agree to advertising, every time you turn on! Had to log TVs off Samsung account. So aggressively money seeking, completely turned off the brand. This is just the final straw!!! Used to be a reliable brand 😢

Its too down to the wire and rumours, plus would you trust Samsung after this.

Just trying to sort our family solutions and hoping to post a guide for those sticking with One Drive.

Allot of us went up the One Drive path and are burned burned, i guess once bitten twice shy, not sure i want another 3rd party Cloud ...

If your on the S26 or possibly beta, yes its gone, so be careful and make sure what was in your gallery is on One Drive.

The gallery sync to One Drive is in the Samsung cloud settings.
