Hi, my OBD2 connects to my phone via Bluetooth so it allows my to run live data logs, display boost gauge, oil pressure/temp, engine temp, and everything else possible via the software.. very helpful little gizmo..

You should still be able to connect to the OBD2 Device via WiFi, go to WiFi settings and connect to the network created by the dongle. Once connected to the OBD2 dongle, you should be able to control the device via the software/app... a lot of things depend on the OBD2 device, app/software and the vehicle as to what access you have, what you want to do and what you're trying to achieve..

Free apps give limited access to the basics, fault code reading and advice and ability to clear code.. helpful but won't do much more..

Paid for apps give more details, hints and some mods but may charge additional fees..

OBD2 devices like CARLY are great for BMW, AUDI, VW group and some other brands as they allow you to do much more like program lights etc but require higher prices and in some cases subscriptions.. these do not work on certain make cars or only do the basics you could do on a cheap £3 ebay special..

Hope this has helped??

Hi, you may have tried all this already and its a bit long winded but hope this helps?? If not, sadly I've tried my hardest to help and exhausted my knowledge.. sorry

1. Disable Mobile Data Temporarily

Since the OBD2 scanner emits a Wi-Fi network but does not provide internet access, your Samsung phone’s auto-network switch will likely disconnect from the scanner to hunt for a working internet connection. [1, 2]

Fix: Swipe down from the top of your screen and temporarily turn off Mobile Data (and your home Wi-Fi) before connecting to the scanner.

2. Connect in the Correct Order

Many connection drops happen because the phone is not linked to the scanner's network before the app is launched.

Plug the OBD2 adapter into your car's port and turn your car's ignition to the ON position (or start the engine).Open your Samsung’s Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi.Look for the network created by your adapter (usually named OBD2, OBDII, WIFI_OBDII, or V-Link) and connect to it.If it asks for a password, enter 1234 or 12345678.Leave the Settings app, open Car Scanner, and tap Connect. [1, 2, 3, 4]

3. Verify App Settings

Ensure that Car Scanner is specifically programmed to look for your adapter via Wi-Fi.

Open Car Scanner and tap the Gear/Settings icon (top right).Tap on Adapter.Make sure the Connection type is set to Wi-Fi.Verify the IP address and port number. The default for most ELM327 adapters is 192.168.0.10 and Port 35000. [1, 2]

4. Clear Background Apps and Reset

Sometimes another app or background process holds onto the communication channel. [1]

Force close all other OBD2 or diagnostic apps running in the background.Unplug the adapter from the OBD2 port, wait 10 seconds, plug it back in, and restart the Car Scanner Pro app. [1, 2, 3, 4]
