The Stealth Shutdown Feature.

I have a third innovation for Galaxy security: The Stealth Shutdown Feature.

The Problem: When a thief steals a phone, the first thing they do is turn it off. This stops the owner from tracking the device via "Find My Mobile" or calling it.

My Suggestion: I suggest a feature where, when a user tries to shut down the phone without entering a PIN or biometric, the phone performs a "Fake Shutdown."

The screen goes completely black.
All sounds and vibrations are disabled.
To a thief, the phone looks 100% turned off.

The Reality: In the background, the phone remains ON and connected to the internet.

It continues to receive calls, messages, and alarms silently.
It remains trackable via "Find My Mobile."
The owner can later "wake" the phone using their fingerprint or a secret code to see everything that happened while it was in "Stealth Mode."

This would make stealing a Samsung phone a waste of time for any thief.

There sort of already is something in place to stop this. Try shutting down a locked Samsung phone. You can't. You have to enter the PIN to actually shut the phone down.

You can hold a button combo to reboot it, but the phone comes back on again.

Older phones could be force shut down; newer ones reboot.

You cannot shut down a locked Samsung phone. I think the recovery menu might let you do it, but that requires connecting a phone to a USB device.

Thieves tend to put it in a signal-blocking bag instead of just easily turning them off.

"Good catch! I noticed that too on my Samsung. It’s definitely harder for thieves to turn them off now. But like you said, they are getting smarter with those signal-blocking bags. That's why I'm still advocating for features that make the phone useless the moment it's snatched from the owner's hand."
