I am writing to express my extreme frustration regarding the recent shift toward making Google Messages the default messaging application on Samsung Galaxy devices. As a loyal Samsung user, I find this transition to be a significant downgrade in terms of both functionality and user interface (UI).
Specifically, the user experience for Dual SIM management is abysmal. In the native Samsung Messages app, it was always clear which SIM card received a text. In Google’s version, this vital information is often hidden, cluttered, or non-existent in the main view, leading to unnecessary confusion.

My demands are as follows:

Restore Independence: Stop forcing the Google ecosystem on users who chose Samsung for its unique "One UI" experience.

Bring Back/Improve Samsung Messages: We need a dedicated, high-quality messaging programme developed by Samsung that prioritises clarity, especially for Dual SIM users.

Better Integration: If you must use Google’s backend, at least design a proper Samsung skin that doesn't feel like a generic, unfinished third-party app.

We pay a premium price for Samsung hardware; we expect the software experience to be just as refined and "Samsung-centric." I hope this feedback is taken seriously and relayed to the software engineering department.

Google Messages is good, in my opinion, and can only get better (it has to), especially since Google put so much pressure on Apple to adopt RCS. I'm saying this as someone who has used an iPhone since the original model up to the 14 Pro Max and switched to Samsung last August.
