ONEUI March Security Update patched vulnerability SVE-2025-1926(CVE-2026-20989), disallowing installation of system-wide font styles using .ttf files that lack an official Samsung/Monotype cryptographic signature due to security concerns, meaning users are now no longer allowed to install any fonts from outside the Galaxy Store app as their system font.

While being a safety measure, this change limits the customizability of Galaxy devices and restricts the users' freedom. Moreover, this change may even hinder user experience for some people completely – for example, the Galaxy Store does not feature any dyslexia-friendly fonts, which is a big issue for dyslexic people who may have bought their Galaxy device expecting to just install a third-party dyslexia-friendly font on it.

The users should be provided with an option, after being warned about the dangers of doing so and at their own risk, to disable this security feature and be able to install system-wide font styles using .ttf files that do not have the Samsung/Monotype cryptographic signature (just like it is with downloading apps from third-party.apk files), as was possible before the March Security Update.

I have an s25 plus, if in any way samsung doesnt respond my next phone wont be a samsung and if google moves forward and makes installing apks harder, im moving to team ios

I have an S25 Ultra, and the level of forced restriction on user customisation is absurd.

Stop pretending this is about security. It’s not. You can build systems that allow users to install trusted fonts or customise safely, then revoke or sandbox them if needed. That’s a solved problem. This is about control, not protection.

Instead, Samsung locks users into a tiny, sanitised set of options – like we’re too incompetent to manage our own devices. It’s insulting.

And the emojis? Awful. Yet I’m forced to use them with no real option to install my own. No flexibility, no ownership. Just take whatever Samsung decides is acceptable.

If this is the direction they’re doubling down on, I’m done. My next phone won’t be Samsung.

I just wish I’d known before upgrading last year that this is what I was buying into.

I have a s25 and was excited to get this phone because I knew I would be able to set the phone for dyslexic friendly fonts. Now I cannot do that unless I purchase said fonts which is impossible as im just getting out of a SA/DA situation. Taking this thrid party ability from us is just terrible.

Same, I'm really disappointed with samsung. Not only the limitations of customization but the frequent unacceptable delays with the updates. Moreover the so expected updates bring almost nothing new but limitations...

absolutely, same thing for me with an s25. i can't stand being forced to not use the fonts i like, come on samsung, we are on android.

Eğer bu değişikliği geri almazlarsa bir sonraki telefonum samsung olmayacak. Şu anda s25 ultra kullanıyorum.

If they don't reverse this change, my next phone won't be a Samsung. I'm currently using an S25 Ultra.

I have an S26 ultra and the fonts are *****. If this goes forward i will never use samsung ever again. The whole reason we love samsung is because of the freedom of customisation. I'd rather get an iphone if samsung decides to lock all the customisation down. Please allow us to install the font we want

They are taking away every reason we use Android for as if they want to intentionally push their loyal customers to iPhone or other brands! Recently they killed third-party apps for edge panels and now they take away custom fonts and emojis, there is not a single reason remaining to prefer Galaxy to iPhone, we don't need fake moon or mars pictures when apps like Instagram are not optimized for best quality of media! I have had the last straw with Samsung!

They need to understand that these are the reason people prefer Android over iOS, if we want iOS we can get them and their products are much better and optimized

Please Samsung developers, you guys have made one UI one of the most customizable skins out there. It is one of the best. Z font should be allowed for us to change fonts. That's not taking anything over from you guys. And it would make so many of your customers happy. Please reconsider this.

I will sell my Samsung if it not allowing me to install custom fonts again. What's the poin of using Android when it restricted even just for font.

What a disappointment. I never expected you to make this decision.

Third-party fonts were always a great addition to the phone, and now it feels like customization freedom has become very limited. I hope you reconsider this decision.

Please Samsung allows the acceptance of using custom phones we download, the only reason why I changed from Apple to Samsung is because of the unrestrictive features, so why change now?
