Thanks Joeeye very balanced reply and I think that is the right way to look at it.
RAM Plus does not seem dangerous in itself but that is different from saying it is actually useful for everyone. Your point about the S24 Ultra needing it for game stability is a good example of how there can be specific cases where it helps but for everyday use I agree the benefit looks very limited.

I’ve just joined Samsung Members, so I wanted to start with a real discussion. Samsung says RAM Plus uses part of the phone’s internal storage as virtual memory to help keep more apps open and improve multitasking. So on paper it sounds safe because it is a built in Samsung feature inside Device Care not some unofficial hack. But at the same time it is still not the same as real physical RAM and My question to everyone is this that do you actually feel RAM Plus helps or do you think it is mostly marketing on higher end Galaxy phones? I’d love to hear real world answers especially from people who have tested it on and off. Have you noticed any difference in app reloads, battery life, heating, gaming, or general smoothness?

I don't see any reason not to use it and max it out unless you really need the storage space. It lets you keep more apps running at the same time, doesn't seem like a negative to me

It is perfectly safe but in my opinion unless you are really maxing out your device for example gaming heavily it probably won't be noticed in general use so I leave it turned off

There is bigger gains to this virtual ram converts small amount storage into managble locks when u open a app or multitask it uses these locks to store cache that it can pull later on effectively making it faster without ram so the gains come with scale the virtual ram dose it's job but physical ram is more efficient

If you have a device with a low quantity of hardware RAM, then enabling it can be useful. Effectively like a virtual RAM area as windows use in their techniques as virtual memory space.

If your device has a good quantity of hardware RAM ... I.e. 8GB or more, then this function is less needed.

Remember that bus access speeds to the RAM area are clocked quicker and therefore are faster accessing than when data is stored in storage which is slower and less efficient. So if you have a high spec device, I believe it is better to turn RAM plus off... as it could actually slow things up slightly.

In this context, with my mid range s9fe tablet which has a lower 6GB of hardware RAM, then I have the RAM plus enabled and set to maximum.

My fold 7 with 16GB of hardware RAM, I switch off RAM PLUS. It has plenty of hardware RAM available for access.

RAM Plus in my experience is typically unnecessary and I'd argue there's more reason to disable it than have it on. In the S24 Ultra I found it necessary to enable it due to a very large increase to game crashes with it disabled. Luckily this wasn't the case with the S25 Ultra and so far haven't had that issue yet with the S26 Ultra.

It can be useful in some niche situations, but for everyday users, I don't think it brings much benefit. RAM Plus isn't inherently dangerous to your system as it's functionally similar to a swap file, like page files in Windows. In the past it could actually cause stutters and hiccups during system operation, but with today's extremely fast flash memory and RAM speeds, it's unlikely to cause any noticeable differences.

I'd say it's best disabled for a couple reasons, it eats up storage space whilst offering very little to no benefit to overall system performance. And secondly, it essentially will degrade your flash storage lifespan in certain parts, by being utilised to read/write more frequently. Modern Android handles memory and apps very efficiently and there's typically no need for the extra simulated RAM offered by RAM Plus.

Thanks Smiley very good explanation and I agree with your reasoning.
RAM Plus definitely seems more useful on devices with lower physical RAM where virtual memory can help with multitasking. But on higher end devices physical RAM is much faster than storage so the need for RAM Plus becomes much smaller.
I’ve got the Samsung S26 with 16GB RAM so in that context I’m inclined to think the same way. With 16GB of hardware RAM already there RAM Plus feels more optional than necessary and switching it off may actually make more sense on a flagship device.
Your comparison between the S9 FE and Fold 7 explains that difference very well.

Yes it’s safe to use and it only kicks in when actually needed. MacBook Pros have a similar system and it comes in handy when doing a heavy task or multiple tasks at the same time, I hope this helps 😊 and don’t worry I use it on my ultras all the time

It depends what you use for as it could work both or against you.

If you are a heavy users with lots of multitasking then definitely turn it ON.

If a light user and need the speed keep it OFF.

Simples 😊
