If you set a routine to open an app, the screen has to be unlocked for it to do that. The phone can't unlock itself.

Your only option would be using another routine to set the phone to not lock. Which is a bit of a security issue

Does Routines work with screen lock. I set a routine to wake up to BBC Sounds but it didn't work. I think it is because the screen was locked? Any ideas.

Then the fun thing needs is an OR command as well as IF and THEN? This will allow the phone
To be unlocked at different times of the day. I have to create several routines with similar function

A routine can't unlock the phone, only prevent it from being locked. So you'd need to unlock the phone at least once after the stay unlocked routine runs. Then the open app routine should hopefully be able to open an app
