How do I edit shortcuts on the home screen in Power Saving Mode

I'm running Android 16 with One UI 8.0. When I turn on MAXIMUM Power Saving mode, the Home screen is limited to 8 shortcuts. I do not need Gallery. I have never used Gallery in the 8+ years I've owned Samsung phones. I use my own file manager, which can do what Gallery does and much much more. How do I replace/delete Gallery so that I can add one more shortcut?

As a side note, why is Settings there taking up room? Why not put it under the 3 dots in the upper right corner? Or I can simply swipe right-down to access Settings. Who needs a shortcut? Seriously, why are Gallery and Settings there, wasting space?

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

In the screenshot below, I can't seem to edit or delete the top 4 shortcuts. Gallery is useless and Settings can be easily accessed through the pull down menu.

@NomadNYC: Please head to Settings > Home screen > Lock Home screen layout, and toggle this option off if it is active. How, head back to your Home screen > Press and hold on the Gallery app icon > Remove, then repeat this step of the Settings icon.

Swipe up from your Home screen to access the Apps screen > Press and hold on an app > Add to Home screen. You can then press and hold on the icon, and drag it to your preferred location (if necessary).

Let me know how you get on.

Gallery was one of Samsung pre installed apps that you can't uninstall (known as bloatware) but only disable it or move it out of the way if you don't want it showing on your home screen 😉

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't care if it's on the phone, I just don't want it on my home screen. When I'm on maximum power saving mode, the Gallery shortcut can't be moved. All 4 shortcuts on the top row can't be edited. The minus sign on shows up on the bottom 4 shortcuts. Again, I'm only talking about the MAXIMUM power saving mode.

Hi, thanks so much for the quick reply. I forgot to mention that this issue occurs on MAXIMUM Power Savings mode. The steps you give don't seem to apply in that mode. The Home screen is restricted to 8 apps/shortcuts and the top 4 can't seem to be moved or delete. Users are only given the option to add 4 more shortcuts to the bottom row. The first screenshot shows the screen edit mode. There are only minus signs for the bottom 4 shortcuts, which are user added.

Is there any way to delete the Gallery and Setup shortcuts so that I can add two more of my own? Thanks for your help!

1st screenshot: The delete option (minus sign) is only available for the bottom 4 shortcuts.

2nd screenshot: This is the Maximum Power Saving (Limit Apps and Home Screen) mode I use. I realize that it only allows a few apps to be active (which you add to the Home screen), but I don't need Gallery or Settings to be among them.

Turn power saving off you should then be able to turn off limited apps. your home screen should be the same

He doesnt want to turn it off he wants to get rid of gallery on the maximum power saving mode which isnt really possible

The home screen picture is with power saving mode on so you can still edit the home screen. Turn of power saving mode first then Turn off limit apps section then Turn on power saving mode on again

I dont think you understand he doesnt want to turn off maximum power saving mode he wants to get rid of the gallery app IN mpsm because its useless to him

To turn off limit apps and home screen like in the picture with blur arrow you need to turn off power saving mode then turn off limit apps and home screen, then turn back on power saving mode this doesn't effect the home screen

No you're not getting the hint the OP doesn't want to turn off limit apps and home screen he want to keep it on and hes saying why you can remove apps in the top row-he wants to remove gallery- but the app he wants to remove is impossible, no idea where you're going but you're certainly not on the right track here

I know what you saying but if the person wants to edit the home screen they will have to turn off the bottom section and the phone will still be in power saving mode

Yes but he wants to edit the homescreen in mpsm not the regular homescreen

@NomadNYC: Apologies for the confusion. Due to the Home screen restrictions that are in place while Maximum Power Saving is activated, you will be required to toggle off Power saving mode temporarily in order to make the changes you want to your Home screen apps, then toggle it back on.

You cant go out of max power saving to modify its home screen!
The top 4 icons are locked with two icons that are pretty useless for most in a max power saving condition.
The settings button on the right is the most useless as you can just swipe down from the top to get to settings from there.
Why the gallery button is there and locked is also confusing to me. Why do I need to look at the gallery when I need to save power? I'd rather have access to the camera and go to the gallery via that.

Basically we want access to modify the gallery and settings icons as they are not very useful.
