Samsung Music duplicating artists since UI 8 update

Since installing the UI 8 update, artists in my Samsung Music library will duplicate when I add an album by that artist. For example, I have Nine Inch Nails in my library as an artist with 5 albums. Now, if I add another album by them it will create a separate Nine Inch Nails artist with that 1 album. I've tried clearing the cache, resetting my phone, and uninstalling/reinstalling the app but the problem persists. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?

Does the new album say various Artists in album artists section if so change each track to the one it says with the 5 albums , in my files make sure you put the new album in the same file with the others 5 albums

Thanks for the reply. I use that same trick for my various artists compilations and it doesn't seem to be the issue here. I first thought that maybe something was labeled wrong with these albums but everything is as it should be from what I can tell. It's as if the artists I added to my library pre-update are locked-in and new albums can't be added to them post-update without creating that duplicate artist. Have you tried adding an album by an existing artist in your library since the update?

I do it daily yes ive just done 1985. Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms 40 Anniversary 3 cds although I do merge albums together i made them into 2 cd and they went into the same album, i tend to leave Album Artists blank number two is the 2 live cds merged as one

Yeah, looks like I've got the latest version. I may have to try it that way as a workaround but even then I would have to start all over by re-labeling everything in my library. Just strange that this is happening even after reinstalling. From this point on it looks like I can add as many albums as I want to the duplicate artist but it stays separate from the original and I can't see a way to merge them. In fact I'm not sure that your way would work for me without deleting all of the existing artists in my library first. Crazy!

On the new album is the genre the same, put it as the same as the 5 albums ive just tried to put 3 album together in one album al pink Floyd artist , album, and album artists were the same , I had to edit genre too, two merge them in the same album

I actually leave genre blank for everything in my library but I've made sure artist/album artist are the same across the board but still they're separate from each other.

Unfortunately not. I've been hoping for an update to the app to see if that fixes it but there's not been one. I have to think someone else is experiencing this too.

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions, I appreciate that. If anything changes I'll post about it here.

I have exaclty the same problem and its driving me crazy. Now I have a folder with 11 albums of Bryan Ferry and another with 2. Had to delete them all and to transfer all again. Now everything in one folder. But this is a bug and should be fixed asap.

Drag that you're experiencing this too but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one, hopefully that means it will be fixed eventually. I'm holding out for a bit before starting the process of deleting and transferring everything again. Seeing the duplicates is annoying, though.

You know what I do now. First activate Recycle Bin in My Files. When I put a new album or song and have a duplicate artist I delete the whole artist folder from My Files and than restore it from the Bin. All set than. No need to delete and tranfer all the albums of the artist. I suppose the bug comes from the date the files are added. I added new album from David Bowie and Samsung Music list Bowie twice. I have around 20 albums and it's absurd to delete them and transfer again. So this delete-restore job works perfectly for me.

Neat trick! Just tried it, worked perfectly of course. Had been obsessively checking for an update throughout each day. This is definitely the fix as of now, thanks for that!

Got the same issue, but i think it started after the last samsung music update. The Recycle Bin trick "fix" the issue for now, but i hope they properly fix this bug in the next update. i got like 8700 songs in my library, is really annoying to do this every single time i add a new song.

It has started now iam on one ui8 I had to move a folder 📂 form sd card to internal storage in my files for the track to merge in Samsung music

That would be a quicker way instead of moving, i found by editing the track in the original album and removing artist the track will move into the new album
