OneUI 8 bugs and issues (on smartphones)

Hi! I have only a one bug to report, but by all means report other bugs too in this topic if you wish.

My issue is that the new "my day" widget that appeared on the lock screen with the new update, cannot be disabled. You can activate the lock screen, long press the widget and then disable it, but eventually, usually after some hours, it comes back and it is like it was never disabled in the first place. I'd appreciate if this issue gets fixed in the future since I don't need this widget. I'm on Galaxy S24+.

why secure folder lock one option has removed (lock whenever leave). its was there in v7.0, but not there v8.0

Hi, I wanted to report that you have an issue with the Android Photo Picker for videos that were edited with the Gallery app and not saved as a copy, but overwriting the original video file. It cannot be picked with the Android Photo Picker because of an invalid URI. There were issues raised about this in the expo repository multiple times, and at least the latest one came to the conclusion that it's a bug in the Samsung OS or Gallery app, please see the thread here: https://github.com/expo/expo/issues/41486

Getting rather fed up with the complete lack of quality control with these huge companies. We pay them stupid amounts of money and get shoddy products in return.

My biggest bug annoyance at the moment is trying to upload images that are in custom albums, when I choose collections I can't see all my albums so have to do it the old fashion way and copy to my laptop.

Another I've just found is not being able to send custom animated GIFs in applications like WhatsApp, they just send as static images.

Come on Samsung, don't be like Microsoft and do a half arsed job.

Bug report 1: Widget style

Widgets now have too round corners, have strange form and size, so that fit less information, though it takes up the same amount of space.

Widgets in one UI 6 version looked much better .

Screenshots to compare one UI 6 and 8 widgets are attached.

Weather widget 4x1 is not informative, it shows useless text, instead of showing forecast key words.

Bug report 2: Lock screen - Now Bar location

Current style and location of Now Bar on the Lock Screen looks terrible and uncomfortable in usage.

Devs should have done it at least adjustable, because somebody may not want it to be located in the bottom.

One UI 6 player widget looked much better

Bug report 3: Default icon and font size

Now default icon and font size is too small, and is hardly visible/readable by users. Users have to go to settings and make it larger.

Bug report 4: Available grid size

Now there are only 2 options of grid sizes, while in One UI 6 there were 4 options. Question to devs: how this limitation improves functionality, usability or anything else?

Bug report 5: Icons style

The old icons looked nice, clean, and minimalistic, and they matched each other really well. The new ones look worse.

Bug report 6: Menu scroll and search bar

Now menu list is scrolled vertically instead of horizontally and the search bar is located in the bottom of the screen. Search at the bottom, wtf??

In One UI 6 there was a horizontal scroll and search bar in the top, which sound much more intuitive .

Users used old approach for years and some of them or even most of them may not want these changes.

Devs should have al least make it adjustable so that users can change to old design if they want instead of pushing new design.

Bug report 7: Settings search

In One UI 8 search in settings is just terrible, even nothing to add..

Search bar at the bottom and covering the content itself (facepalm) and that topics also look weird. A user uses search to quickly find some particular setting, what do these stupid themes have to do with it?

Unfortunately don't have a screenshot of same feature in One UI 6, but it was much better.

Also the amount of settings become bigger in new version and the majority of them are useless for common user

Bug report 9: Battery icon style

One UI 6 had better icon 100% then v8, nothing else to say.

Bug report 10: Notification panel and quick settings panel styles

In One UI 6 all these looked more compact, informative and user-friendly than in One UI 8. These too round corners really annoying.. Also, in order to make icon labels bigger you need to set bigger font, but because of this mentioned panels get too large as well.
