Hi - I have a S25 Ultra and also use Tidal. When I want true hi res audio i use wired headphones w/DAC. However, with recent advances in BT codecs (of course I remain somewhat skeptical) - i decided to give it a go. Here are my findings (it took a long time to get to this so wanted to share, given most articles out there are plain inaccurate).

Using the developer options and seeing the audio resolution as i was streaming in real time,

1. Samsung Buds Pro3 using Samsung's codec (SSC) will support audio above 44.1khz - no issue

2. However when you want to go to other headphone brands, S25 Ultra only supports basic aptX - but not aptX HD or Lossless. It will max out at 44.1khz - i tried using Sennheiser's BTD 700 dongle + Momentum 4 wireless buds, both of which support aptx HD or aptX Lossless. I verified this, again in real time on both the phone and Sennheiser's app which shows you the audio sample rate and it matched up - only 44.1khz despite choosing various 'Max' albums on Tidal (alas, no more MQA, but that's another topic....)

3. Interesting to note - the above Sennheiser combo worked perfectly on my iphone 16e which i use as my work phone - and got up to 96khz playing Dark Side of the Moon (note: lists codec as aptX adaptive), again on Tidal (verified using Sennheiser's app as I'm not sure if iphone has the same developer options menu to check this). Most other Tidal Max files got to 48khz btw, but it was a pretty random selection; i figured if Pink Floyd wasn't full hi res, then what on earth can we believe in

Despite being a lifelong Android / Samsung fan - the inability to use different headphone brands and enjoy hi res audio has me wondering if i should join the Apple cult, which believe me is not an easy choice lol....

Hope this helps.

I have a premium subscription with Tidal and want to stream the highest possible audio quality (lossless). Is that what the "hi-res audio" feature is for?
I currently have an S23 Ultra and plan to get an S24 Plus. Do both of these phones support lossless audio streaming?

You're in luck as sometime next week, the new codec will drop with 6.1.1.

But SBC and SSC codecs are still lossy.

I use Tidal Hifi, Qubuz Sublime, and Spotify (podcasts only).

I recently purchased the Buds3Pro and tested the highest sample, bit rate, which was 32/96, then a few A-B-A with the new setting on and off.

SQ wise, I am super nit-picky, even baseline versus my hifi.

Any road the new codec made diddly squat difference for me, I even resorted to local ripper WAV and FLAC file some 24/192, same result.

For me, it doesn't stack up, I suspect the Samsung chipset is the issue, as when I did the same my my AQ Cobalt when Tidal offered full unfolded MQA, it was easily discernable.
