dear samsung and dear community.

for years i have used upday and i was happy. it was good. i could customize the content and block outlets that mainly had clickbaits. i don't know who gaslight you into thinking its not good????

it was AMAZING! the problem with the internet is you only hear about ppl that complain like i do now. and not about ppl that praise something good. and even the best thing will have haters and critics.

but upday was good it let you blend out xy died here and cat missing there kinda news i really dont care about. and you could tailor it to get the news that are interesting and positive. and i think science kinda does that. new method to do xy is way more positive.

upday had a huge range of portals also online outlets that focussed on specialized areas. those were the best no bias no sensation news. just facts. often sicence focused.

those were really good. new google willow? you knew about it before any news outlet even realized there is a quantum chip. japan discovered how to regrow teeth? you knew it long before your dentist even heard about it.

amazing james webb pictures and new physics theories? you were among the first to read about it to. or just enjoy amazing pictures.

but not only that it also had local news. for switzerland that included most papers but also news portals that are only online like watson and nau that are really good. and the best part was you had it all together in one app called upday.

i needed some customization to show what you care about. but then it stopped your need to check all those outlets one by one. it stopped you from roaming the web to find the news you actually think are interesting and it gathered most of them in one spot. add one or 2 newspapers you like and you were set. unless something special happens where you go and do your own research to stay informed about certain topics.

now you discontinued it and changed it to samsung news? ok i was looking forward to it. thinking you will make it similar: local news + online stuff you can customize. the official reason was to make it less biased? so i just expected more choice.

what we got instead is...sorry terrible. bad. sad. a disgrace. and i am normally not among the people that go online to trash products. games aside ;D

you know what my options are now in samsung news?

NO local news. NO online portals. NO neutral newspapers. NO science focused outlets.

all you get now are FOX NEWS LOL really? thats the most biased brain rot and brainwash newsoutlet you could have choosen. i dont think anyone in their right mind outside of the USA consumes that trash. seriously.

what else do we have? basically nothing. no bbc. no spiegel... no online portals tailored to your interests like gaming science breakthroughs etc. the best options are probably the guardian or AP but those are also just not that great.

sorry but its just useless for me now. since i have an older phone i don't have the option to switch to google discover on the left swipe. while upday was a thing i would definitely bought a new samsung. now? uhhh you shattered one of the best things samsung had over the other phones. at least for me. news i can choose and where i see the source without clicking on it. and it gathered them all in one spot. it was amazing! and i could blend out all the sensational reporting stars and just things i don't care about.

the samsung news now? i have ZERO reason to EVER use it. it just brings articles from news outlets that mainly focus on sensational news. then its newspapers far away that are just not diverse. india and australia? yeah sure you get another perspective but most of their news are rather local so i dont really care. its all just generic news outlets that copy paste from eachother. the good thing about upday was again the specialization you got mainly from the specialized online portals. like that you had news portals that focus on certain subjects. and also they did not try to bias you. they just exist to write about new science breakthroughs etc. i loved it. you got news that never make it to the news media we can choose now. and long before they wrote about it. willow as quantum chip is amazing who in your new list of news outlet would ever write about it? only sensational news now. no thx. tv has enough of this. before it was unique now its like turning on the tv. and you should know younger ppl and also my generation do not like tv news much. that includes papers. and thats mainly because of the things they report on. if you have nothing interesting to say make the news short. but no they will fill it with 30 minutes of how trump looked while he sneezed. no sorry i don't care.

if a source continiously had click bait or weird articles you just blocked it. like wamiz.de the rest was really good. sadly the upday standalone is only uk or germany so no more local switzerland news there. so it is not as good as it was while they worked for samsung. but probably still better than what you offer now. even google discovery is better now ;/ and it kinda sucks.

sorry for ranting but to see how much worse the NEW product/app is i had to vent about it somewhere.

true i did that. but now it has local news only for uk if you choose english and germany if you choose german. and the swiss newspapers are no longer included. also you cant customize it any longer for now. and the source now always just says upday and no longer the different news outlet they are from like it was before under samsung ;D so i don't know about it. for now i use g discover but its kinda mid so far. only 1 million user is wild yeah no wonder it was discontinued then. ;D but does not change the fact what samsung now included is quite inferior in every aspect. while i was expecting more ;D so yeah i get why fox is added if more numbers is the goal. fine aslong i can disable it i dont mind but why not a broader spectrum to choose from? i mean watson is online and for free. sure its german and less target audience. but there is no reason to not add those. and the same is true for most science news outlets. and its cool if you can gather them all in a place and don't have to have 6 tabs open and check them once in a while ;D
